3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The Nihilist is a very dark, very rich stout, but needs some aging or maturing. The body is a little too carbonated and too lively, in my opinion, for an imperial stout. The flavors and body could use some aging to round out some of the rough edges. With that being said, I think this beer has some massive potential. With some patience and time down in a cellar, this impy stout could be great. All the other qualities are top-notch, though. The beer pours a pitch-black color with a huge brown head. The nose features mostly a chocolate-centered aroma, with a touch of bitter hops and hints of cream and vanilla.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black pour, tan head, some lace/retention. Aroma is grapefruit, roast, chocolate, caramel. Medium bodied, alcohol hidden well, lacks the complexity of most imperial stouts.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an opaque, extremely dark brown with only a thin ruby ring around the bottom edge of the glass when held to the light. A monstrous, gray-tan, foamy head forms quickly. It noisily dissipates in about twice the time. Carbonation warmth in the nasal passages and top of the lungs as the beer settles. Picking up some coffee and beef jerky on the nose. Some beef dry rub spice as well. Palate pleasing thickness, but not at all oily. A mild coating on the tongue remains after the finish. Spicy dried beef and fruit flavors. Some nuttiness near the finish. Good impy stout.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Drsft at Good Dog. Thick pitch black pour with brown foam. Runny lace. Big complex stout flavors up front but finishes with an odd bitterness. Chocolate malted milkshake. Coffee caramels. Charcoal grill. Cigarette burnt vinyl jacket. Dark side of the moon. Polish remover for goth black nails. Black liquorice spice. Long lingering ascetic pepper notes in the finish. Not perfect, but meets the "nihilist" description.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle split with Al. Pours black with diminishing mocha head and spots of lace. Nose of roast, dirt, ash, light chocolate. Crazy carbonation, maybe one of the most carbonated beers I’ve ever tasted. Taste of ashes, roast. Dry finish.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
On tap at the Bocktown Monace. Nice place. Today the over 40 girl at the bar was pretty freindly but becareful, she has a short fuse. Pour is a big black stout with a scummy head. Smell lacks that typical impy stout aroma. Smells more like mild bandaids. Not too sure what to think about this. It certainly does not come across like 10% but it is volatilte in a 7% kind of way. This stuff evolves on the papalkte, first its kind a stoutish then it evolves into overdrive. Bitter boter. Yes, each swig starts off smooth then it becomes a rude finish. bitter bandaid. Astrigent, reallly sticks into the back of yer throat. No detectable co2 in this. If you like impy stout, ignore my numbers and give it a try, quite unique in the stout arena. I’m just a fan of impy stout. It was there so I tried it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one poured a darker brown color with a beige head. Aroma was green and earthy dirty hops, with medium roasted malt, and light burnt chocolate. Flavor was a bit dirsty and astringently bitter between the hops and roast bitterness. Reminded me of an unrefined storm king.

On tap at Fat Heads. Pours a jet black color with a medium brown head, looks good. A rich nose of roast and char. The flavor is smoke, metallic, hops, light to big bitterness, odd rich chocolate and dry earth. Good. loads of bitterness makes it nearly a big BIPA. Nice altogether.
