3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from RBC. Pours opaque deep brown with mocha head that explodes and then completely disappears. Aroma: Rich dark chocolate with a fair bit of roast as well. Taste: Initially thereís a metallic finish, but that comes and goes as it warms. Chocolate and roast both big in the taste, along with cola and a bit of earth. Slight astringency in finish. Cola, marshmallows -- this actually seems to go downhill as it warms. When I started, I thought "wow, there are a lot of harsh reviews of this -- doesnít seem that bad to me." And it still doesnít seem that bad, but at the current rate it might get there by the end of the 750. At any rate, Iím cutting this off now.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
February shipment from Rare Beer Club. Man this is good. Hard to believe Iím rating the same beer as some of the other raters. A very dark brown with a medium brown head. Smells creamy and chocolatey. Taste is intense, with a rough hoppy bitterness and dark coffee roastiness, balanced out by a sweet butterscotch thing going on. Terrific flavors that play off each other wonderfully. Try this beer! Itís awesome!

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
From a corked n caged into a snifter. Pours a deep dark black with about four inches of dark head. Head disappears into nothing rapidly. Nose is alcohol, hops, cough syrup and dark malt. Mouthfeel is light and way overcabonated. Taste is a hot mess. Like a burning Black IIPA. Itís a much better black IPA than it is an imperial stout. Plenty of hops in this sucker. Maybe it would mellow and get better over time, but I donít got that time.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The Nihilist is a very dark, very rich stout, but needs some aging or maturing. The body is a little too carbonated and too lively, in my opinion, for an imperial stout. The flavors and body could use some aging to round out some of the rough edges. With that being said, I think this beer has some massive potential. With some patience and time down in a cellar, this impy stout could be great. All the other qualities are top-notch, though. The beer pours a pitch-black color with a huge brown head. The nose features mostly a chocolate-centered aroma, with a touch of bitter hops and hints of cream and vanilla.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black pour, tan head, some lace/retention. Aroma is grapefruit, roast, chocolate, caramel. Medium bodied, alcohol hidden well, lacks the complexity of most imperial stouts.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an opaque, extremely dark brown with only a thin ruby ring around the bottom edge of the glass when held to the light. A monstrous, gray-tan, foamy head forms quickly. It noisily dissipates in about twice the time. Carbonation warmth in the nasal passages and top of the lungs as the beer settles. Picking up some coffee and beef jerky on the nose. Some beef dry rub spice as well. Palate pleasing thickness, but not at all oily. A mild coating on the tongue remains after the finish. Spicy dried beef and fruit flavors. Some nuttiness near the finish. Good impy stout.
