bbp182 (253), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 27, 2008 Has a nice amber/orange color to it. Nice white head, lasting, very good lacing. It has a very sweet malty smell along with fruity/citrus tones to it. Very bitter. The taste is bitter...but not overwhelming. A malty/sweet taste to it. The bitterness lingers on the palate. A great grapefruit/fruity bitterness.
bombshelter (348), Washington, Washington DC, USA Sep 27, 2008 22oz bottle from the Phoenixville Brewery. Big, long-lasting head on top of golden-hued brew. Lots of carbonation in this one. Aroma is all hops, piney, some hints of citrus. Light/medium body. Lots of hop flavor, good bitterness. Pretty great. Glouglouburp (2006), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 23, 2008 In short: A generic American IIPA. Very drinkable like all other generic American IIPAs
How: Bottle 22oz, drank fresh a few days after purchase
The look: Cloudy orange body topped by an off-white ring of foam
In long: Malt backbone is nothing special with sugary caramel. Hop flavours is 2/3 pine-cone and 1/3 citrus fruits. Gets more and more resinous and coniferous as it warms up. Bitterness is mild. Not very tasty. An overall feeling of a tired beer although I purchased it only a few days before at Oak Tree, store with a good turn around. A decent beer but lacking some character. Stays on the beaten path well within the limit of the style, Sly Fox Walk Around The Block. cbkschubert (1611), Rattlesnake Country, Arizona, USA Sep 14, 2008 22 oz. bottle - Pours a clear golden color with a medium size off white head. Nice layered lacing. Aroma and flavor is floral & citrus hops and toasted malt. Medium body. A good beer. KieferUGA (356), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 21, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Light orange pour. Medium sized, light white head. Good amount of lacing. Big aroma of citrus hops. Flavor seems to have faded a bit, as the caramel malt hits you first. Hops are still there, but have started to drop out. Piney, spicy flavor that lasts quite some time on the tongue and roof of the mouth. Not enough of the sweet balance I tend to look for in a DIPA, but still a nice beer. CapnCascade (40), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 11, 2008 Pours clear copper-orange, light white head with some retention. Slightly herbal aroma also has caramel and floral notes. Flavor is sweet malt with a big hop spiciness that lingers for a long, peppery finish. Warm, rich body with good carbo. Certainly a fine DIPA if not necessarily my favorite of the lot.
