Bought a case of this a while back and was very disappointed as I’ve been with most offering by this brewery. Pours clear amber color with offwhite foamy head. Aroma kinda metallic biscut which reflected in the flavor. Sweet malt base with metallic burnt biscut finish. not a good Oktoberfest.

Amber pour, light tan head. Sweet and malty, not much else going on to be honest. Meh.

Tap. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and cookie malt, earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, a clean lager character and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bronze body and sporting a lush, 2 1/2" thick head. Strong pilsen nose with a sharp, European/German hoppiness that dominates the aroma. Soft grains in the body with a some dank and crisp German hops. Dank, twangy pellet hop and tannic malt finish. Meh.

On draft at Tabor Road Tavern in Morris Plains. Pale copper complexion. Fairly thin, mild, malty and easy to session. Traditional to the style but not a standout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours hazed and very light amber with an orange hue . Lager bubbles coming up from the bottom. It had a finger and a half of loose off white foam that fell quickly to a thin ring and soapy wet lace as you drink.

Nose is simple and yeasty lager smell. Bready with a touch of malt sweetness. There is some hop pungency on the nose and I thought I smelled a bit of onion. I will call it hop herbal instead. As it warmed the malt became a tad sweeter on the nose.

Taste is terrific and light. It has a light bread with only a touch of malt sweetness that intensifies slightly as you drink. There is a hop presence on the palate and a gentle bitter on the tongue right before the finish. It finishes crisp and dry with silky bread to flow but no real caramel taste. It’s not that the malt is not sweet and only by the end of the glass are you noticing a bit of nutty or any toasted quality. The malt in this one is slow to be realized but it is there and by the end of the drink it has a bit more body. Carbonation in ample and mouthfeel is clean.

I think sly fox has a great way of making very smooth lagers that drink very easily and flow across the palate like water. This one is certainly tasty and while you might start out thinking it’s too light by mid glass you are tasting hearty bread (with the crusts even) and a smooth malt. it may not have the dark color of other octoberfests but it drinks well .
