NYC Trip Beer #6. In my notes I simply wrote "Guinness Redux." This isn’t a bad thing, except that Guinness is cheap and ubiquitous. That about wraps it up. Draft - Pony Bar - New York, NY

Looks like guiness. Foamy, dry and light. A little harsher finish than a guiness. Very nice with the low abv and smoothness. Very sessionable, light body. Very rarely order a guiness, and I might actually order this one first. Well done. Should come in cans.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jrodooo5 (496) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Definitely dry! Wow, never had a stout quite like this. Aroma is roasty. Pour is a pretty dark brown with a nice tan head. The taste is crazy dry & certainly not refreshing. Interesting but not great!

Nitro. Black color, massive thick tan head with good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of cocoa, subtle licorice. Taste is chocolate covered coffee grounds. Not bad.

Draft. Standard pint shows a deep black color with a tall, thick beige head. Massive retention. Once this warmed up it was nice. Nose is roasted coffee, hints of chocolate with light cocoa powder. Taste is wonderful. It’s lots of sweet chocolate, roasted grain and coffee grounds. Smooth and creamy texture. Ends dry and bitter. If the ABV is still 3.6% WOW, what a lot of flavor. Nicely done!

On tap at brewer. Beautiful dark brown pour with perfectly balanced white head. Rich flavors of chocolate and coffee. Creamy, though not as much as Guinness, according to the lady. ROAST

Tap @ the Jean Bonnett, first night with potato skins, sample .. . pours a dark brown black .. light foam .. thin mouth, refreshing in a way .. . light tar and guinness syrup .. . nice abv level .. . pretty good but just a bit to lacking for me .. . . wrong way down a one way..

Nitro draft at the Khyber. Decent dry Irish stout obviously basing itself on Guinness. This one is a bit creamier. Slight bit sweeter too. Dry malt flavors of cocoa and cappuccino. Not as good as the original but a viable alternative.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Capa (1905) - Manama, BAHRAIN - JUN 5, 2012
This is an easy go to for multiple reasons. Many Philly area bars serve it as their stout or dark beer option, it’s tasty, and it’s low abv to name a few. Dark with a creamy beige head. Aroma has light roasted malts, cocoa, light burnt aroma. Flavor has a medium strength roasty flavor with light chocolate. Not a powerhouse but what is there is tasty enough and very drinkable. Lightly dry and roasted bitterness on the finish. Good stuff and a nice local alternative to Guinness.

Smooth and delicious, not overtly rich or dark, but really well balanced. Thick creamy head, and dark color. Smooth body.
