3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nitro beige head tops the dark brown body which is clearly not opaque. Quite mainstream powdery cocoa, grainy coffee malts nuanced by mild oatmeal-like and pecan tones. The faintest prune notes are quickly overwhelmed by the dryness. Creamy medium body full of nitro small bubbles. Okay balance, but not so tasty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap ath the Ginger Man, NYC.
Light, not much of a body. Some toasted grain aroma, a growing smokiness, and there is a pronounced character of roasted malt and soot in the finish.

Nitro. Pours a black body with no head. Aroma is roasted malt and bitterness. Flavor is such with little chocolate character. A thin bodied beer in mouth feel and a dry finish. Uneventful.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft pint at the Standard Tap, Philadelphia. Nice cascade of a head into a thick blanket of creamy foam. Wonderful head retention and lacing. Pleasant java aroma. Roasty and toasty with a light bittering edge. Woodsy, bitter, great on this chilly night. Awesome stout. (#3186, 11/8/2007)

[108-20061118] Tap @ Smokin’ Joes (Pittsburgh, PA). Not much there for the aroma, but nothing offensive either. Dark dark brown body with a creamy off-white head. Chocolate hoppy watery stout flavour with a roasted aftertaste. Full body with a slightly watered-down feeling. Comes together nicely.

Nitro - Opaque black color with a thick creamy tan head and nice lacing. Chocolate and light roast aroma. Creamy mouthfeel with strong roast, chocolate, and coffee. A very nice dry stout... probably one of my favorites.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
HBF 2005. Black with a tan head but fades. Aroma and flavor is loaded with roasted malt a touch of chocolate and some burnt malts. Flavor is balanced a bit by some bitterness in the end. Fairly smooth, but also served too cold.
