COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sly Fox’s Barleywine is big and satisfying, made with British Pale and Crystal malts and four varieties of hops. Panacea is full bodied, with an intense hop flavor balanced with a ton of malt and clearly defined alcohol warmth.

Draft in Phoenixville. This one poured clear deep copper/orange with little head. The aroma was very hoppy, with some heat and fruit noted, in addition to some fruity cherry bourbon wafts. The taste had a firm malt presence backed by big hops and subdued fruit. I like a little more dark fruitiness to my barleywines. The finish got a little hot, and the hops kept on coming as it warmed. This one reminded me a little of Avery Hog Heaven. As a side note, I did side-by-sides of this and the Odyssey, and this one made Odyssey its bitch in the IBU department. If this were an IIPA, I’d raise the score by a tenth or two.

Rating #420...what a great way to celebrate and nice song! Can’t wait until #666. On tap at Phoenixville location. Pours an orange amber with a small off white lacing head. Aroma of caramel, citrus hops (orange), candy sugar and light alcohol. Flavors of orange and light pine(hops), alcohol, some caramel and an overall general sticky sweetness. I think this would really improve with some age.

On tap at the Phoenixville location. Poured a darker brownish/amber color with almost no head at all. Aromas oranges, caramel, citrus and other fruits. Tastes of oranges, caramel, and a little earthy. Medium to stronger alcohol burn in the finish. One thought came to my mind - fresh orange slices that were soaking in alcohol.

Excllent barleywine, amber color with a touch of a reddish hue, off-white head with nice lacing around the glass, the aroma was full of hops and notes of citrus, caramel & a hint of fruitiness, full-bodied but easily drinkable, flavors were very well balanced with notes of fruity & earthy hops and caramel & musty malts, just a small hint of alocohol in the body as well, smooth finish with one last touch of hops

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2006 Poured a reddish amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, lots of caramel malts, pear, apple, and a vinuous character as well. Taste of lots of pine resin, tobacco, caramel malts, and a cascade hop finish. A fair amount of alcohol detected.
