sinkr (138), Lusby, Maryland, USA Mar 26, 2008 Draft->juice glass (tasting@brewery): Pours a spare, white, lasting head atop of a clear, yellow body. Hop aroma is light, barnyard yeast aroma, and honey in there as well. Body is light, texture is sticky, finish is astringent. Flavor’s duration is long, with moderate acidity and bitterness. Definitely good for a pilsner.
thickfreakness (101), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 5/16/08. Thanks go out to Deuane from BA for sending me a 12 pack of this great brew and thanks to bennetj17 from BA for introducing me to this at DLD prompting me to trade with Deuane!
Poured this into a pilsner glass. It pours a nice yellow color with a 1 inch tight, white head that fades and leaves a layer of foam on top of the brew. The smell is typical of a pilsner ( a little malt and a sulphury smell) but it has a noticeable hop presence that is very nice. The taste is just right. You get a nice bit of the traditional sulphury pilsner taste down the middle of the palate and then sweet malt, corn and flavorful hops on the side. Its actually even got a nice mouthfeel for a pils. I could drink this one all summer long, outside in the hot Texas sun. It is extremely refreshing. This is most definitely my favorite Pilsner and I am typically not a fan of the style.
miketd (372), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 27, 2008 Thanks to lb4lb for the can. Pour is clear and golden. Decent white head there. Aroma is grainy, malt anf earthy. Flavor is fairly bitter but the overall feeling is harsh. Malty, sweet finish. Not my type of Pils. Not very clean. Brigadier (900), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Sep 15, 2008 12 oz can
Thanks to CharlesDarwin for sending this in a recent trade. Among one of the first that I opened my hopes were for something drinkable at the pool or while cooking on the grill. What I got was nothing like that. I’d love to try another can to make sure that something wasn’t wrong this one. It had such promise but couldn’t deliver in the end.
Aroma / Appearance - Lively carbonation released plenty of bubbles into the clear golden body. Wheat, freshly cut grass and other hoppy notes made known that this was not your mass produced swill trying to pass itself off as a pils.
Flavor / Palate - The taste of cardboard seems to indicate that this might have somehow gotten oxidized between the canning and the time that I opened it. Without that flaw it might have been a great semi-local pilsner. Instead it was barely drinkable. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt since I can’t imagine anyone would intentionally do that to a beer. If so Sly Fox has some quality control issues to resolve. drewbeerme (1837), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 15, 2008 12oz can. thanks to kan for this one.
