3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at brewery. Poured a deep hazy copper color with big rocky head. The aroma is of some fruit spice, large bananas and hints of malt and hops. The taste is nice and flavorful that is sweet and fruity with hints of the hops and spices. But the main player is bananas. Medium to light body with soft carbonation.

Light golden colored body, large white head, spotty lacing. Wheat, some citrus, grassy hops, and a little yeasty spice. Medium to light bodied, mellow carbonation, semi-sweet finish, and a crisp light bitterness.

Pours a hazy rust orange. Has a sweet citrus and orange aroma with some wheat. A strong banana taste came as a surprise, with typical light citusy and wheat you’d expect with a weisse.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I poured a 12oz can into a weizen glass. It had a best before date of 10/25/13 and cost $2.70 ($0.23 per ounce).
Appearance: Opaque pale orange/light brown color. Forms a small, white, foamy head which completely dissipates and leaves no lacing.
Smell: Quite sweet and fruit with a distinct applesauce and banana cream pie aroma.
Taste: I think Sly Fox Royal Weisse is truly one-of-a-kind since it’s the only Bavarian-style hefeweizen in a can that I know of. This definitely has what you’re looking for in the style: a sweet, fruity flavor that’s refreshing and easy to drink. This is a TRUE summer beer.
Much like the nose, the palette to this beer is remarkably sweet. Most brews of the style tend to have flavors of banana and clove, but Sly Fox Royal Weisse has a distinct apple and cinnamon taste throughout the first half. There’s a tangy bitterness at the apex, almost astringent, or dare I say sour. It’s not a huge flaw, just a minor distraction that’s easily overlooked as you drink on. The back end delivers a different kind of sweetness in a caramel or butterscotch flavor similar to that of a hard candy. All these components add up to make for a tasty beer. It’s a little less authentic than I prefer, but the end result is quite satisfactory.
Drinkability: Sly Fox Royal Weisse is an easy beer to drink as the body is thin, tepid, and refreshing while in the mouth with a clean aftertaste. Though I think its calm body does it a disservice as a beer like this should be a bit more lively across the tongue. At 5.6% ABV it seems to be a tad overweight, since it feels like a lighter beer. There’s really no reason for it to be this "strong" anyway. I’m sure the same taste could be delivered in a less potent, more universally sessionable weight.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location/Date:Can on July 23rd, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a yellowish orange opaque with light head.
Aroma: Aroma of banana, light clove, wheat.
Taste: Wheat, light banana, faint clove, faint bitterness.
Palate:Light medium body, more fizz than expected, lingering clove-banana aftertaste.
Summary: A solid german hefeweizen style beer, hits all the right notes but nothing that sets it apart from some of the preferred german versions. Nice that it comes in a can.
