Alc 7%, came flying out of the can. Hazy/unclear red amber with a small ok lacing off white head. Grain, bark, light herbal, light starch, light caramel, light metallic. Medium body, oily texture, medium carbonation. Abrupt finish leaving a bitter, light dry and metallic mouthfeel.

Can thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of grass and pine with an earthy grain backbone. Flavor has a combination of sweet grains and musty pine with a hint of grass underlying.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Darkish ipa with a small amount of head and above average carbonation. Distinctly lacking both refinement and punch to its aroma, extremely faint with a little bit of hop resin and nondescript citrus fruit. The same underwhelming nature caries through into the flavour, that has a mild musky malt backbone, with hints of caramel. The pleasant fruity notes of cherry, under ripe raspberry and orange are quickly battered by resin and pine bitterness. This beer is all together muddled and brief in both flavour and aroma

Seriously dark, mahogany pour. Hazy to the point of muddy. Tight white head of fizzy, tiny bubbles. Decent crown of lacing left behind. I won’t take points off just for not filtering, but the overall appearance just isn’t that impressive. Not much of an aroma of anything. Slight hoppy pine and a bit of caramel malt. Taste follows. Pine needles and caramel. I started wondering if this might be past it’s prime, but the date on the can says 12/11/13. Just s big hit of caramel up front with a pine and bitter hop finish. Not too sweet, with the hops finishing, but definitely a malt toward IPA. I really want to call this an imperial amber. Even then, it would lack depth, but be more appropriate to style. Pretty enjoyable, but far from exceptional.

*12 oz. can* Look: Dark amber brown body, 1 finger off white head. Smell: Baked doughy malts, hints of citrus, faint wood, cooked assorted vegetables. Taste: Malty, some spice, cut grass, vegetables, bitter. Feel: Medium body, par carbonation. Overall: This is weird. Sometime the flavor is ok. I wanted to like this but for the heart of me, I can not. Because I didn’t like it fully, this is still worth a shot.
