3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
THOUGHTS: Not at all my cup of beer. Not much balance at all. Nice hop bomb, but not enough malt to make it enjoyable to drink. Seems like there might be some rye in there. If there is they should really promote that. Fairly British. My can said it was 7% ABV not 6.6 as listed here.
TECHNICAL: Can. Poured an ever so slightly, hazy, dark, reddish amber that looked like a very old and dirty penny. It also had an average to large, off-white head that mostly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma had heavy dark bread, grain and something like rye; moderate pine, spruce, and earthy hops; light orange rind hops; and a little tobacco. It should be nice but something is off-putting to me. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and light to moderately bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and nearly harshly bitter with a long duration. There was citrus, rye, dark bread, grains, pine, spruce, and citrus rinds. The medium body was rather dry with lightly fizzy carbonation and a metallic finish.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
26-SEP-2014, bottle @home, from Barley Wine. Very hazy orange with lasting, creamy, off-white head.
Aroma is really hoppy and sweet. Is this really an IPA? Feels a lot more like an IIPA. Very fruity hops. Not that grape fruit bomb I was expecting.
Taste is hops with orange peel, over ripe exotic fruits and then tons of malt with caramel and bread.
Earthy, licor-like. Full body, soft carbonation. Fruit bomb with sweet malt backbone. Fantastic. Easily an IIPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is earthy with some dark malts and molasses. Opaque copper appearance with a modest off-white head. Very full bodied taste, starts with a rich malt flavor and finishes with a nice crisp hop bite. A nice strong robust IPA, A bit of a lesser beer than hop Devil however.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear dark golden color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops and caramel malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

330ml can from red elephant truro uk. Looks great - clear amber with nice head. Smells malty not too hoppy. Tastes carbonated and then bitter without much hops. Not really what I was expecting - hardly the hop bomb that the outside of can tells me it is. Okay but wouldn't be in a hurry to have this again.
