3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a very effervescent hazy golden yellow. Nice large white head. Yeasty aroma that was lightly spiced. The aroma had sweetness with light citrusy notes. The flavor was malty, sweet and yeasty. Nice acidity in the middle. Fruity finish becomes semi-dry. Light body.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. This was a nice surprise, and Ernest is right; the similarities between this Saison and Saison Dupont are striking! Beer was a hazy medium-gold color with a small, frothy, white, mostly lasting head. The aroma was malty with a moderate amount of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; hoppy with a light note of lemon, pepper and moderate notes of herb and clean, dry straw; yeasty with light-to-moderate notes of dough and basement; light spicy alchs. The flavor was moderately sweet, lightly acidic and moderately bitter with an average-length, lightly-to-moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. The body was light-to-medium, the texture was watery-to-velvety and the carbonation was lively. Moderate alcoholic warmth to the finish was a nice little bow on the package.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2007 Bottle.
Head is initially large, frothy, white, fully lasting.
Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of pepper, lemon zest, and canned pineapple.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Got 3 more bottles recently in order to get more closely acquainted with this one. The aroma has been consistently a little less solid than my first try a few years ago, but it’s still overall one of the better saisons made in the US. Patterned after Saison Dupont for sure.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 30, 2007 I found this bomber pretty drinkable but I’m not sure I’d get it again as it seems a bit grassy in the nose and flavor. I love that lemongrass flavor happening with some sweet maltiness but it seems a bit too balanced compared to other saisons I’ve tried. The carbonation is there but the finish seems a bit too mellow to accompany it. The alcohol is well hidden to the point I don’t realize its strength.
Rerate: I love this more because the finish has a good carbonated creamy texture and the flavors seem very well balanced. Bottle from River St. Ale House.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle via trade with DocLock! - Thanks Jeff! - Pours beautiful hazy golden with a tall white frothy head that clings to the sides of the tulip in sheets. Aroma of light floral hops, lemon, honey and light spice. Flavor is much more sharp, lots of lemon, brett funk, corriander, but backed well with some honey and sweet malts. Nice soft pleasant mouthfeel with good carbonation and the citrus finish leaves you refreshed. Very drinkable and one that I found easy to finish the whole 750ml bottle. I’m liking this brewer more and more as I try more of their offerings. Nice!

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle thanks to Zathrus13. Pours a hazy pale gold color, whipped egg-white head. Aroma is pleasent, fruity with not alot of funk. Very clean. Flavor is tart and full of lemon and black pepper. Short, alcohol or burning seems to affect my liking.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear yellow with big white, big-bubbled head. Very inviting. Aroma of lemon grass and coriander. The flavor has notes of coriander, lemon and honey, all nicely balanced. A slightly peppery finish and some bitterness. The palate is soft and clean, fresh and perfectly carbonated. Moderate finish. Excellent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
OK - so this is a first - a blonde, six-inch human hair was hanging from the cork when opened. Yes, this was packaged with the bottler’s hair. Yikes! Well anyway, moving on this pours a lustrous lemon with a mile-high, foamy head. Lots of lemony, wheat notes in the nose. A slight sourness as well. The body is spritzy with carbonation and is light and fruity. Honey, perfume and bready sweet malts in the body. Smooth and drinkable, minus this hair, this is really nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours golden with a sizable white head and a great deal of yeast. Head retention is very good. The aroma had hints of floral hops, lemon, citrus and biscuit malts. Strong floral hop presense in the taste along with tart lemon, biscuit malts and citrus. Quite sour. Effective yet simplistic mouthfeel with a good lemon and citrus combination. Nice drink.
