On draft, Phoenixville location. Poured a golden straw with nice 1/2 head. Aroma of banana, spices, belgian yeast. Flavor is ok with a general spicyness, wheat, clove, and with a very mineral finish. Palate was the highling of this beer for me, nice velvety mouthfeel with good carbonation. Overall this is a decent beer, but it lacks intensity on every front. None of the barnyard/complex flavors and aromas of a true Belgian Saison. As if brewed not to offend anyone. Very clear pour, needs more yeast and funk in there. Where’s the funk?

22 oz special ’wedding gift’ bottle, shared by egajdzis at O’Briens. Pours golden, mostly clear with a large foamy white head. Sweet malty aroma, with yeast and herbs, a little smoke (?), light citrus notes and spice. Flavor featured spice and bitter herbs, earthy notes, a bit of hoppiness and very astringent. Medium body and foamy carbonation.

Pale cloudy yellow/orange in colour, very large white coloured head, fair retention, good lacing. The aroma is of citrus, mainly lots of orange, floral hops, yeast and must. The flavour is very yeasty and musty, lots of orange and lemon citrus, some spice. Sour mouthfeel, medium body, insane carbonation. Finishes long, fizzy, lots of yeast. A very yeasty saison, very high amounts of carbonation. The carbonation becomes a bit of a distraction.

Eric says the aged version of this beer is fantastic. All I can say is that they oughtn’t to put it out till it’s aged. Aroma: pears, yeast, honey-sweetness, white pepper, some lemon. Taste: peppers, alcohol, hot dogs, spice, finish is chalky, aftertaste metallic--eek! If there were a ghost on this label, it would have iron teeth and be breathing hot spicy flames. Let it age till the taste matches the aroma. Let it age!

Bottle. Thanks to footbalm for the trade. Pours a beautiful golden brown with a nice white head. WoW, what a mouthfull. Very carbinated and dry were my first impressions. Has a bitter, zesty taste. Notes of lemon and grapefruit. Not sure what else to get out of it really. This is my first Saison. Not to bad. I guess I will just have to try some more to appreciate it more.

Not one of the best beers that I’ve had, but still drinkable. There was no lacing and it was a little heavy on the hops for my tastes.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2011 Re-rate summer of 2012 from tap at Sly Fox Brewery Pours clear golden yellow with thin slightly off white head. The nose has hints of yeast, notes of lemon and clove with a faint bit of banana and candied sugar. The taste is overly sweet and sugary, a little thin in the back. Candied lemon and banana with just a touch of spice to it but not enough to balance. light body, thin, highly carbonated. A-pours a golden straw colored head with a hint of haze and a thin bubbly white head. S-yeast up front, light lemon and orange peel notes, oily aroma, floral herbs, corriander. T-yeasty lemon, orange peel, corriander, notes of floral grassy herbs, light bitterness in back. very simple and straight forward. M-grainy feel in a good way with a syrupy texture and nice carbonation to back it up with a lightly dry finish. D-very easy drinker, very straight forward beer, not a lot happening here but still a great summer drink.
