A Belgian style Saison (or Farmhouse Ale) brewed with a blend of British Pale and German Pils malt and hopped with East Kent Goldings. Fermented with a special proprietary yeast which imparts its dry, spicy character. Golden orange in color.

A salmon red color with a good amount of white head. Excellent aroma of flowers, grass, lemon, orange peel, perfume and spice. Tastes more like a summer beer, but good nonetheless. Taste is citrus, yeast and spice. Light body and frothy with a small amount of carbonation.

Stamped 11/18/13, I assume best before November 18, 2013
Appearance: The body is a beautifully clear golden amber with a towering white foamy head. The head has decent retention and dissipates very unevenly.
Aroma: The aroma is spot on for what I expect from a saison, dry, spicy, hay, semi-sweet malts, and a touch of citrus. I enjoy this.
Taste: Sightly malty from the start Saison Vos reveals nice subtleties throughout of sweet leaning citrus to a light peppery overtone that lingers through the finish. This is great.
Palate: Full bodied with lively carbonation, slightly sharp.
Overall: This is a great saison, well worth buying again. If this were in cans in 6 packs I would buy it a lot this Summer.

Yeast, apple cider and lime aroma. Spritzy light pineapple, cloves and club soda body with a mossy melon-laced finish.

Draft at the Leigh Valley Brewfest in Easton, Pa. Nice smooth beer. Satrted sweet then had a dry spicey finish.

Appears a light hazy gold with mild streams of carbonation coming up to the top. Solid white head does not want to yield to the surronding pressure. Spotty and streaky lacing abound. Smell is of slight barnyard funk mustiness with apple skin, coriander, pepper, and lemon zest with perhaps just a touch of bananas. Taste is of the same aromas matched with that slight funkiness. Mouthfeel is dry with some of the lemony zest and coriander peaking quickly before the dry finish. This is going to be the shiznit when bottled. Only a few weeks away.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, fully lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of pepper, lemon zest, and canned pineapple. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Got 3 more bottles recently in order to get more closely acquainted with this one. The aroma has been consistently a little less solid than my first try a few years ago, but it’s still overall one of the better saisons made in the US. Patterned after Saison Dupont for sure.

Poured a golden yellow color with amber hues. The head was initially outstanding and laced while subsiding before even drinking. Great lacing was observable during the whole drink and remained at least until the waitress took my glass. The aroma was sweet and floral. The flavor was sweet and malty (some caramel-like and very light grassy flavors), but had a light bitterness underneath - almost like a tripel. The finish was accented by a hop flavor (American?) that wasn’t typical of the style. Intersting, but a bit a bit odd. Mouthfeel was a little thick but not overly carbonated. A nice beer, but inferior to Hennepin if you’re looking for something that is good but on the border of the style.

A nice idea of the farmhouse beer style, but it is not meaty, if that’s what you like in your saison. Simple, and mildly malted. Delicate floral notes, as well as gentle, and sweet fruits. Not too sweet, nor is it too malty. Some citrus in the flavor leads to a slightly bitter, dryish finish.

Cloudy, white grapefruit color with a fading, sudsy white head. Aroma of barnyard, spicy coriander, citrus, and some distant sulfur. Flavor is moderately sweet with some nice tartness, medium bitterness, and a semi-dry finish. A fairly tantalizing saison with some depth. Refreshing and interesting.
