2l plastic bottle. Have had better beers...! PAle yellow colour, weak head. Faint aroma of malt and bread. Taste is boring, thin-bodied.

Ruprecht_007 (572) - Cesky Tesin, CZECH REPUBLIC - JUL 6, 2012
Barva: světle žlutá, pěna řídká. Vůně: nevýrazná. Chuť: vodnaté řídké pivo nevýrazné sladové chuti a jen lehký nahořklý dozvuk. Na žízeň ok, ale jinak tragédie.

Can 0.5l. Golden orange color. Tiny head. Sweet grain then slightly sour and little watery. Solid beer but nothing special.

A golden color with a white head. Light on the carbonation. Malty notes. O.K.

kaziopiwosz (356) - Warszawa / Wałbrzych, POLAND - MAY 29, 2012
"Rotten" taste and smell. White foam but disappearing quickly. Something like "light-gold" colour. I’m sad to say this is one of the worst beers I ever drank. I hope "12" is better.

CanCrusher (599) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - APR 23, 2012
Canned. Clear golden colour with average white head that disappear completly. Weak and fuzzy on aroma - some malty and hoppy smell. Taste is mostly acidic, aftertaste is slightly bitter. Don’t bother with it...

pivnizub (8731) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - MAR 4, 2012
Bottle (diky, Cuso!): Golden, visible carbonation, small and stable white head, sweetish corny-grainy nose, some hayish hops around; light to moderate sweetish flavour, light bodied; thin sweetish-bitter finish with a slight acidic touch. This "thirsty monk" is a drinkable thirst-quencher, nothing more.....

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond and loose medium-sized foamy head. Mildly buttery and slightly dusty pale malty aroma. Slightly sweet flavour, light bodied with an almost crisp carbonation. Papery malt-character with buttery notes; moderately sweet and slim malty finish with hints of cardboard and a shy ascorbic touch. 08.II.12

Many years ago(1992) I did a fair amount of walking thru what is now the hills and mountains of Slovakia. In retrospect I wish I would have done more. At the end of the days hike, the hostel/hotel/barn loft was always the last stop. The second to last stop was of a matter of course the local watering hole. Topvar, Tatran, and Smadny Mnich were the trail sodas of choice that one held in reserve in case the watering hole/store had closed for the night by the time I arrived at our supposed destination. I have had this beer on my wants list for some time now....much to the chagrin of Sloth since my wants list is nearly impossible for anyone other than Cuso, from which this bottle originated in trade. Be aware dear reader that my rating is intentionally skewed for the sake of the reminiscent past. Pours a beautiful glowing gold. Crisp. thin head with slow and determined carbonation. Thin light, bready body. Corn in both nose and body. Thin tinny finish which instantly transported me back to the Tatras at the end of the day when your feet ached and the goulash was warm and tasty. Overall this is not a fantastic beer, but I am glad to revisit it after all this time. Many thanks to Cuso!
