... assuming this is the correct one, as it has the ratings, and there was some alcohol kick ... On tap at JJ Twigs, pretty much across the street from the brewery. Excellent root beer, with a kick.

Tastes just like root beer. Had this poured from draft at Pearl in Chicago. Black with thin off white head. Spicy and minty exactly like a good root beer

on tap @ the-beer-market (which disappointingly had only 4 of the 9 beers on their menu that i asked for). actually did taste just like root beer, and i like root beer. figured "root" counted as Spice/Herb/Vegetable. rating #1!

Pour on tap, dark brownish pour with tan head, aroma is...root beer, straight up. No booze, its actually nice and rich with some ice cream like notes as well, delicious smelling. Taste is like great root beer with little to no alcohol presence, finishing sweet, vanilla. Wow, this would be very dangerous.

Bottle: Labeled as "Not Your Father’s Root Beer" on the bottle. Deep brown body, approaching black in the center with a chunky beige head that doesn’t stick around for very long. Sweet vanilla aroma with spiced sarsaparilla, sassafras, a touch of mint, some residual sweetness nearly akin to brown sugar, & a little kick of warm ginger. It smells almost identical to root beer. Hah. Tastes that way, too. Big, smooth, sweet vanilla up front, lightly caramel & brown sugar backing with those familiar root beer spices pounding hard; sassafras, sarsaparilla, ginger. Sweet, just as root beer would be. A touch of residual sweetness & vanilla in the finish; cane sugar. I not only have a hard time believing this is 10% ABV, but I can barely believe it’s actual beer. It tastes like goddamn root beer. Wow. Insanely tasty & dangerous.

Wow, poured a deep brown color with aromas of vanilla, light sweetness, and root beer. I mean root beer, spot on, unbelievable, woke up my wife to make her smell and try as well. Flavors are the same, you don’t taste any of the abv, wow is this good. I need more asap.

Bottle... This beer vacationed in “The Virgin Islands.” Now they are just “The Islands.”… Pours clear and brown with copper sparkles when held up to bright light. Small, wispy, off-white head. The aroma is very reminiscent of A&W root beer, but with twice the sarsaparilla or sassafras. There’s no warning of the relatively high abv in the nose. Full-bodied with a thick mouthfeel and busy carbonation. The flavor is sweeter than “really fucking sweet” - A&W fountain syrup accompanied by fairly heavy alcohol warmth. Sugary-sweet, sassafras and vanilla finish. Enjoyability high. Drinkability low. Fun, world class stuff! Shared with the south Florida crew by biggsbowler!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
An alcoholic root beer-beer at 10% ABV you say? I had heard about this from a colleague at work who raved about it to me. Saw on tap at High Dive and had to take a look for myself. Draft pour into snifter. Pours dark brown/black, with a cola hue and very light carbonation present. Great presence of vanilla and toasted oak. The booziness only becomes more apparent when this one warms up, otherwise it is soda pop all the way. A unique tasting experience and one to definitely snap up if you see it in your area.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
It is basically a 10% root beer. Aroma is slightly boozy, but you won’t notice difference in taste until it starts warming up. Barg’s appearance, taste. Fix this to say Not Your Father’s Root Beer
