Wow, poured a deep brown color with aromas of vanilla, light sweetness, and root beer. I mean root beer, spot on, unbelievable, woke up my wife to make her smell and try as well. Flavors are the same, you don’t taste any of the abv, wow is this good. I need more asap.

Bottle... This beer vacationed in “The Virgin Islands.” Now they are just “The Islands.”… Pours clear and brown with copper sparkles when held up to bright light. Small, wispy, off-white head. The aroma is very reminiscent of A&W root beer, but with twice the sarsaparilla or sassafras. There’s no warning of the relatively high abv in the nose. Full-bodied with a thick mouthfeel and busy carbonation. The flavor is sweeter than “really fucking sweet” - A&W fountain syrup accompanied by fairly heavy alcohol warmth. Sugary-sweet, sassafras and vanilla finish. Enjoyability high. Drinkability low. Fun, world class stuff! Shared with the south Florida crew by biggsbowler!

Barnoloid (158) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 14, 2014
An alcoholic root beer-beer at 10% ABV you say? I had heard about this from a colleague at work who raved about it to me. Saw on tap at High Dive and had to take a look for myself. Draft pour into snifter. Pours dark brown/black, with a cola hue and very light carbonation present. Great presence of vanilla and toasted oak. The booziness only becomes more apparent when this one warms up, otherwise it is soda pop all the way. A unique tasting experience and one to definitely snap up if you see it in your area.

It is basically a 10% root beer. Aroma is slightly boozy, but you won’t notice difference in taste until it starts warming up. Barg’s appearance, taste. Fix this to say Not Your Father’s Root Beer

Tap in a snifter. Pretty impressive stuff. This may be the best root beer I’ve ever had and it’s got a lot more to it. Very fragrant and herbaceous. Sweet enough but not cloying. Will definitely have again.

On tap at Lake St. Kitchen & Bar, Oak Park, IL. Looks just like root beer. Smells just like root beer, Tastes just like root beer. Carbonated just like root beer. 10% ABV is very well hidden, except for a slight kick in the finish. Amazing!

JStax (2955) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - FEB 24, 2014
Bottle named Not Your Father’s Rootbeer. Poured into a mini-snifter. Pours a black with a beige head of foam. Smells like Barqs root beer. Very sweet smelling and sugary. Syrupy, sugary, and medicinal. Medicinal notes come through more on the finish. Medium to thick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Overly sweet.

Are you kidding me?!? A 10% beer that tastes just like root beer and you cannot even taste the booze? Watch out, this is one delicious beer. On tap in chitown.

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy root beer aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet root beer flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

Bomber to taster (shared by brew3crew). Looks good; like root beer. Smells and tastes good too; also like root beer. Nice on the palate. I get no beer out of this at all, but that’s not a bad thing. Probably a lot of artificial flavors, but still damn good.
