COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brew is a shout-out to the alter ego in each of us, beckoning it out of dormancy. Porter, brewery president, left his career as an attorney to heed the call of his weekend passion, making beer. He and friends, also consumed by beer, established Smartmouth in 2012. This farmhouse-style Belgian saison is an effervescent and refreshing beer with fruity notes, a hint of pepper and a dry finish.

Pours clear gold, translucent. Light dull earthyness, some malt sweetness. Medium body. Underwhelming.

Can a friend brought back from a trip to Virginia. Cloudy yellow, medium carbonation. Aroma is musty, with some ripe fruit and citrus. A little sweet and a little bitter. Pretty good.

12oz can pours hay pale yellow with 2 finger head. Nose is light with some soft farmy grain and pepper, yeast spice, orange and lemon. Palate follows the nose with nice citrus notes and peppery yeast that adds nice flavor without dominating. Finishes with a blend of grainy straw, fruity yeast and lemony orange. Nice little saison.

pours a hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma of peppery belgian yeast, lemon zest and wheat. Taste follows, simple representation of the style, great intro to saisons

Spicy and sweet with a peppery taste. Really awesome. Definitely a belgian style. Theres a really pleasant sweetness that is balanced by a hoppy bitterness. I haven’t had a lot of Saisons but this one is pretty good.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a thin white head. Big musk on the nose, soft wheat. Medium bodied, nice yeast coming through, musky and lemony. Long musky finish. Tasty stuff.

12 oz can. (Grape & Gourmet) Virginia Beach, VA.
The can looks great. Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Belgian style yeast, spice, mild bitterness and some maltiness in the aroma. So far so good. The flavour is mild yeast, some spices, mild hops and some sweet maltiness. It’s a bit too sweet to be really enjoyable. Nevertheless it’s not a bad American brewed Saison.

12oz can pours a hazy orange with some ringing, white head. Nose has heavy herbs, heavy perfume, heavy hand soap, pear, some custard. Flavor has some candy sweetness, fruit, a little vanilla, lots of soap, some perfume, lemon peel. Sticky finish. Good start.

Draft. Pours a murky deep golden color with an off white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, hay, faint tart. Slightly more tart in the flavor, barnyard funk, light rock candy sweetness. Light in body and goes down smoothly. OK, nothing special.

Not a huge fan of the saisons that have been made in most American breweries. This one is ok but not great. Flavor is standard but lightly fruity. Aftertaste is kinda skunky.
