Named in tribute to the railroads that surround our brewery, Cowcatcher Milk Stout is a surprisingly sessionable beer that is as black as night with a thick, tan head. This beer is brewed with lactose, giving it a substantial smooth body. Munich, black malts and roasted barley lend a roasted coffee-esque flavor profile to balance the sweetness of the lactose and Crystal 60 malt. This offering was brewed as a limited edition beer, with only 10 barrels available. Don’t let anything get in the way of you drinking some Cowcatcher Milk Stout!

Really nice beer. Lots of roast, with light caramel and some dark chocolate. Some coffee. Black pour with good head and lacing. Creamy consistency. Nicely done. Tap at Continental.

Draft at Yard House-Springfield. Dark, muddy brown with small beige head. Barely there roast grain aroma leads into a fuller taste, but still not that robust. Some notes of chocolate as well, but not enough to push this one above average.

Pours black with a huge assed tan head, some lacing. Aroma of sweet dark malt, leather and chocolate. Flavor of roasted malts, chocolate and dark fruit, bitter
Ok, but I couldn’t finish this one

Can from Wine Warehouse. Pour a little bit into my glass - overwhelms the tulip and the head bubbles up and spills all over the table. Hmm... An inch of beer, 3 inches of head. Puddle of beer around my glass. Not good. Black with a gigantic head. Aroma of tobacco, chocolate, and pencil shavings. Very odd, but not off-putting for some reason. Flavorful beer- plenty of cocoa, cream, lactose. Tasty. I have several more cans of this - hopefully the head situation gets under control.

12 oz can at Spacebar split with a drunken KBS’d DCLawyer. Dark brownish black with tan head. Aromas of pencil, chocolate, cocoa. Tastes of chocolate, cocoa, light milk. Medium body with a dry finish.

Pours a deep brownish black on tap with fluffy tan head that dissipates to leave good lace. Aroma of sweet mocha notes, light coffee, and earth. Taste is more toward a mocha latte coffee, good lactose notes. Smooth and creamy, moderate carbonation, really nice.

A subdued aroma of cafe latte with hints of malt and chocolate, pours a dark black color with a thick lasting tan head with good lacing. A creamy feel with a roasted malt and a chocolate malt/cafe latte taste with a great toasted malt finish.

Black as night, you’re not going to be seeing anything through this beast. Huge roasty aromas mixed with coffee and chocolate. There’s a big roasted taste followed by big coffee and chocolate. Super smooth and highly drinkable. Crush a few of these and you’ll be feeling good. Excellent milk stout from a fantastic brewery. Cheers!

Keg at Capital Ale House Innsbrook. Dark brown with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, lactose, leather. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, creamy lactose, mild dark fruit. Medium bodied.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep cola brown with a thin tan head. Soft roast and cocoa on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet and full of gentle roast. Nice and smooth with some cocoa and roast. Very easy drinking. Gentle bitterness on the finish balanced nicely with a fair amount of sweetness.
