3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the Bier Tempel - Brugge. Nice creamy pour. The aroma is a combination of cheese, yeast and a touch of noble-ish hops. Flavor is muted, with a lead of banana bread, with a slowly drying finish. A shot in the dark trying this - glad I did.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This was the first beer made by Johan Brandt’s new brewery in Mater, continuing the brand from his first brewery (Regenboog) but with new beers and a slightly altered name (Smisje became Smiske, apparently). Dry hopped blond ale with very thick, rocky, sticky, off-white head and hazy golden blond colour, clouded after adding the deposit. Aroma of green, oily hops, grapefruit, grass, tonic water, melon, orange, pineapple, butterscotch, vanilla, honey, minerals, cheese, yeast. Vivid and fresh onset of lemon zest and orange peel, peach and pineapple, yeasty, honeyish and bready malt backbone, medium carbo, strong dry hop bitter in the finish, with the typical, spicy, resinous ’green’ hoppiness of dry hopping, long, with a hint of warming, gin-like alcohol. A lot better than its brown sequel.
