Draught, Randallized version Huge dense & white head, rings of lace; hazy yellow-orange beer. Sharp EU hops’ nose, even if they might be actually Cascade. The spiciness of the yeast comes out in force. Sharpish sweet-bittersh, spicy notes, even leafy. Very dry finish. Light to medium bodied, feels very carbonated, nearly over-. The USA hops might come out more in force, then it might even be called IPA. Still, far from bad, appetizing.

(Smiske Extra) Bottle shared, ABV 7% Deep orange colour on the body, sligtly hazy. Fresh aroma, berries, fruits, pears. Taste follows, nicely fruity, pears, hops, yeast, grains, mildly bitter. Medium thin body, good carbonation, nice dryness on the palate. Quite good, looking forward to a whole bottle of this.

Aroma of fruits, citrus, yeast, grass, some hops. Flavour is light sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Not as bitter as advertised, but I enjoyed my bottle of this very refreshing Belgian ale.

Alengrin (2813) - BELGIUM - OCT 12, 2014
This was the first beer made by Johan Brandt’s new brewery in Mater, continuing the brand from his first brewery (Regenboog) but with new beers and a slightly altered name (Smisje became Smiske, apparently). Dry hopped blond ale with very thick, rocky, sticky, off-white head and hazy golden blond colour, clouded after adding the deposit. Aroma of green, oily hops, grapefruit, grass, tonic water, melon, orange, pineapple, butterscotch, vanilla, honey, minerals, cheese, yeast. Vivid and fresh onset of lemon zest and orange peel, peach and pineapple, yeasty, honeyish and bready malt backbone, medium carbo, strong dry hop bitter in the finish, with the typical, spicy, resinous ’green’ hoppiness of dry hopping, long, with a hint of warming, gin-like alcohol. A lot better than its brown sequel.

Delikatne w smaku, orzeźwiające i lekkie. Zmętnione, piana raczej średniopęcherzykowa. Nadrabiające przyjemnym aromatem i smakiem.

Pours a five+ finger khaki head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Hazy straw color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Floral hoppy nose and flavor is earthy and hoppy. Lingering bitter aftertaste. $5.99 for a 330ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.
