on draft: i have heard about this beer forever and couldnt wait to taste it once i saw it on draft at the bar. i was wrong for waiting. not much of a beer very watery and thin with a caramel toffee flavor that rolls around and goes away. if you want to have a smithwicks and dont want the alcohol or have to go to the bar. get a piece of caramel and drink with cold water and youll get the same impression. uninteresting.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2004 Aroma is ok, it poured very foamy. Flavour is fairly balanced between hops and malt although it’s a bit thin. Rather boring flavour and the more I drank the less I liked it.

On tap at Okra’s in Manassas, VA. Burguny-brown color with a small, unattractive white head. Not much of a smell just some sugars and skuny malt. Taste is equally as plain and boring. I have no clue how this beer is rated so well. I found it to be disappointing and below average.

On tap at the Cricketeer’s Arms. Murky brown in color. Flat with no head. This ale has no taste. I would say that it was crap. I’m very underwhelmed with any sense of malt body or hops to this one. Better than corn-based macro swill, but not much.

Best ale I ever tasted--no longer a need to travel to Ireland nor Canada to relish it--can’t wait till it is available for home consumption

Bottled. Pours an amberish colour with a thick creamy head. Malty, toffee nose. Tastes of caramel and mild hops with a bit of a metallic after taste. An O.K session beer but I would choose others.

On draft. Slightly sweet, nutty, with a touch of caramel and nice malt flavor. I was relaxing on the patio of a pub in Santa Monica, and this really hit the spot.

This stuff is great on draft. This is my new session beer when I go out to the pubs. Pours a deep dark amber, with a nice tan head. The taste has a great sweet malt character, with just a nice bit of dry hopping and bitterness in the aftertaste. A perfect combo of bass, guiness and harp all in one, all the best qualities and none of weak ones.

Probably my current favourite of the Guinness line. I quite enjoy the bottles with no nitro bubbles to be found. Good malt character similar to Newcastle I suppose. Good session type beer.
