Smells of toasted malt, brown sugar, some caramel/ toffee, and a bit of hops. Nothing too impressive, but a good default Irish Ale. nbutler11 (779), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Loaded with whiskey, cream, brown sugar, and toasted malts. Very similar to a Scottish Ale, but slightly sweeter. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2008 On tap at Brixx. A great session beer, it offers an aroma of sweet caramelly malt. Flavor is rich with caramel and roast malts offset slightly with floral hops. I’d definitely enjoy a second pint or third or ... Not at all like a Guinness, even watered down. It’s much sweeter and nowhere near as dry and roasty as a stout. ericandersnavy (1150), crossroads, Texas, USA

Pleasant ale, balanced between good malt presence and light hop character. Unfortunately it tastes like a watered down Guinness and I couldn’t help but think that that’s exactly what I was drinking. mzurface (1), Greenfield, Indiana, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Best fucking ale on the planet. Period. It has the most full and robust taste of any ale around. The aroma after a Smithwicks has just been poured is the most amazingly heavenly scent ever in the history of mankind. Also, sidenote: the Blacksmith might be the single greatest creation in the history of the world.
