Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale. Its exceptional taste, distinctive colour and purity of ingredients make it unique. Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

A very good beer to have on tap at a good smokehouse where ribs are the main course. Has a very dark brown and tan head and bursting with roasty, burnt overtones. Easy drinking and smooth.

It pours a rich, reddish-amber color with a white head. Smells of toasted malt, brown sugar, some caramel/ toffee, and a bit of hops. Nothing too impressive, but a good default Irish Ale.

Pours a rich mahogony color from the tap with a firm white head. Loaded with whiskey, cream, brown sugar, and toasted malts. Very similar to a Scottish Ale, but slightly sweeter.

On tap at Brixx. A great session beer, it offers an aroma of sweet caramelly malt. Flavor is rich with caramel and roast malts offset slightly with floral hops. I’d definitely enjoy a second pint or third or ... Not at all like a Guinness, even watered down. It’s much sweeter and nowhere near as dry and roasty as a stout.

bottle bought at metzlers in denton, tx. poured a rusty brown color with a rocky off-white head that lasted the life of the beer. aroma was pleasant with caramel and floral hops. flavor of watered down caramel and floral notes. palate was kinda watery for me. would drink again if around.

Bottled. Nice roast nose. Pleasant ale, balanced between good malt presence and light hop character. Unfortunately it tastes like a watered down Guinness and I couldn’t help but think that that’s exactly what I was drinking.

Best fucking ale on the planet. Period. It has the most full and robust taste of any ale around. The aroma after a Smithwicks has just been poured is the most amazingly heavenly scent ever in the history of mankind. Also, sidenote: the Blacksmith might be the single greatest creation in the history of the world.
