Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

On tap. Keg was fresh off the boat. Very nice reddish brown color. No bite whatsoever. I have not run out of this stuff in my fridge in a year now. Only way to describe the buzz from this is "JOLLY".

On tap. Dark brown pour with minimal head. Very nice malty backbone, yet very drinkable. This is pretty good.

Bottle: Poured a dark amber color with a nice head. The aroma was that of beer. Smelled like a bud. The flavor was surprisingly smooth. Overall, this was a beer with not a lot of flavor but went down smooth.

[WBA Styles Tasting] Reddish copper color. Skunky aroma- sweet toffee, caramel and corn. Plenty of DMS in the flavors. Really quite overpowering. Far too sweet for me. Cloying Perhaps a bad bottle?

Good mouthfeel, somewhat carmelly, strong malty taste and quite smooth and easy to drink. Overall, it’s quite good. On the list of things I order prior to or after my obligatory Guinness.

Pours a medium brown color with small/medium head that goes away pretty fast. For this dark a beer, its lacking in flavor and tastes of bland malt only.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark amber, with a creamy head. Aroma: Tough to say, but I smelled a hit of toffee. Flavor: Nutty and malty.
