Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale. Its exceptional taste, distinctive colour and purity of ingredients make it unique. Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

Average. Good creamy texture, nice lasting head, smooth. Flavor is malty, caramel, not much other than that. From a bottle into a frosted pint glass.

"I have some import beer in the fridge downstairs". Great, Smithwicks. At least it wasn’t stella. Pours red, taste and smells kinda like beer.... Nobody cares. As pedestrian as your brother who can neither afford a car nor public transit. Scroll further down for a detailed review because i really couldn’t be bothered.

Had on-tap at Three Blind Mice in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. From what I can tell, this is a permatap over there and it comes at $4.50 a pint, or something like that. Appearance: Nice red color with a small tannish head. Lacing is alright at the start, but spotty the rest of the way. Looks alright. (3.5/5) Smell: Malty. "Red." Maybe a sort of hoppiness, but definitely malt-forward and grainy. Nothing special, average at best. (3.25/5) Taste/feel: Blah. It has all the typical flavors you’d find in a red/amber, but this one has a significant artificial sweetener sort of aftertaste that I tend to get in cheaper beers and it turns me off to this a good amount. Grainy. Slightly below average. The mouthfeel on this one is a bit thin with a moderate/high carbonation. (3/5, 3.25/5) This is just a pretty mediocre beer, and it’s about what I had expected, maybe a bit less than. Wouldn’t buy again, but I wouldn’t turn it down. 3/5

Aroma : faint malt. Appearance : reddish copper, big foamy head. Taste: like a middle of the road pale lager macro, not bitter at all. Palate: foamy, lager like. Very forgettable beer.

Certainly isn’t terrible, I’ve had better and worse... If you are looking for a "meh" ale, this is probably it.

Deep amber pour. Toasty and bready amber malt aroma. No hop presence. Flavor is very smooth. Mild sweet. Medium body. Toasted bread. Amber and caramel malts. Little earthy hop aroma. ---Rated via iPhone

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with off white head. Toast, toffee, malty aromas and flavors. I haven’t had this beer in 7 years; probably won’t have it again for 7 years.

Aroma a fairly grassy and carbonated character. Some cream Ines. Taste is a sweet maltiness with slight bitterness. Not entirely complex body. Appearance is a dark clear amber with a medium head that retains well.

Draft with a meal. Dark amber with a too large foaming head running all over the table (what the hell?). Sweet, malty, slight hoppiness. Okay, but just okay.
