Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale. Its exceptional taste, distinctive colour and purity of ingredients make it unique. Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

Bottle. Poured a garnet color in my mug. Some frothy tan beer foam with some lacing. Aroma of brown sugar poptarts and flaked biscuits. The taste is a bit bland with biscuit notes coming through. Not very exciting but clean and very drinkable.

This is probably my Favorite beer! It's easy to drink and I love the roasted flavor in it. I have been getting this for a while now, I really need to try more Red Ales. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark honey amber colour, medium creamy off white head. Toasted malt and caramel aroma. Some sweetness, malt and caramel but a bit thin.

Draft in Ayre, MA. Creamy white head on charcoal brown. Soft sweet malt aroma. Smooth body, raisins and sweet fruity malt. Solid. Not a ton going on. Feels a bit under attenuated.

Draft pour pint at the Wilde Rover. Pours a dark brown color with a fizzy bubble head. Seemed firing to rate this for the first time in am Irish pub, though I would prefer to be across the pond and doing it right. I’ll pretend for now. Creamy body with a nutty malt flavor. Has little flavor, but not bad. Not bad, but not really that good either.

Classic red. For me it isnt fantastic. It is quite good. Surely in stile (it is guinness ) beauty to see, with aroma of bread and spicy.

Aromas .are mostly bready malt. Hop presence is very mild and nondescript. Color is a dark reddish-brown, with a fairly large off-white head which dissipates fairly quickly. Taste is fairly sweet with just a mild bitterness. Body is medium; carbonation is average; texture is slightly thin. Finish is medium, bready with just a slight bitterness. Overall this is a pretty unremarkable beer; mild and one dimensional.

330 ml bottle. 4.5% ABV. Appearance: Dark red-brown color with a creamy and durable tan head that leaves the glass partly coated with foam. Aroma: earthy hops; faint off-notes. Taste: nearly as hoppy as malty; mild bitterness. Mouthfeel: medium bodied with medium carbonation.

This is a good example of an Irish Red Ale, I found the flavor to be rich and full of malt and some fruit. It also has a nice copper color. I would drink this again.
