Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale. Its exceptional taste, distinctive colour and purity of ingredients make it unique. Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

No retention and no lacing. Smells of bread, grain, dirt and sweet malt. Tastes of semi-toasted malt, apricot and sweet bread. Sweet aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

På lokal i Dublin. Första kontakten med irländsk öl var inte så positiv som jag hade hoppats på!

Bottle: Poured a dark reddish amber with high off-white head. Aroma was malt strong of caramel and biscuit with no hop presence. Strong malt flavors of toffee, caramel, and roasted malts, not sweet, but malty. Clean sharp, clean, dry finish with slight hop bitterness. Mouth feel is medium bodied.

Transfer from BA review on 6-17-13 Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance- Served a reddish-brown colored brew with a very small tan colored head. The head fades rather rapidly, leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is malty with notes of biscuit and lightly roasted smells. With these aromas comes a rather stronger sweet smell of caramel and apple. A very light grassy aroma rounds out the rest creating a rather nice smell overall. Taste – The taste begins with a roasted malt and biscuit flavor upfront with a moderate amount of a caramel sweetness. As the flavor advances a little bit of a fruit flavor as well as some grassy hop tastes come to the tongue. The caramel takes on a more toffee like flavor more toward the end with these flavors leaving a lightly roasted and light sweet flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly above average side for a brew of only 4.5 % abv. The carbonation level is rather average as well and in combination with the moderately thick body creates a feel that is very nice for the lightly roasted and toffee/caramel flavors of the brew. Overall – Not a flavor powerhouse but rather easy drinking and a good brew for the more session level of alcohol. Overall it’s rather well done.

Tasted several times. It has not intense aroma or taste but the combination and the balance between the components is really good and made a nice and refreshing beer. Next one please!

On Tap @ The White Horse Pub, Sarasota, FL. Weak & watery. Not much here. Almost taste like fruity dishwater. "Not my cup of tea".

Essentially flavorless malty ale with an annoying tartness in the finish. Good looking but does not deliver.

Ambré avec un tête petit et beige. L’arôme du malt et du caramel. Le goût à plein de malt et un peu du caramel avec un amertume léger dans la finale. Facile à boire avec la carbonatation doux.

Really no complaints here, nothing remarkable though. Pretty nice orangey-brown colour with a fizzy off-white head. Smells and tastes of honey, light leather, caramel and brown bread malts. A medium mouthfeel on this Paddy makes it a really easy drinking pub classic.
