Had this on Tap at Red Hughís in Augusta, GA.... Pretty decent brew... small but frothy head, nice lacing, a mahogoany brown color. Has a nice slightly sweet oat and nut taste. Not as sweet as a Nut Brown ale.... Not a super strong taste, but quite nice to have a pitcher of

On tap at Keeganís in a pint glass. Caramel and brown in color with tannish head. Malty aroma with some nutty characteristics and subtle sweetness. Taste has qualities of caramel and toffee with a little bit of sweetness. Very thin mouthfeel. Itís still a good fallback option if youíre at an Irish establishment and they are out of Harp. Nothing to write home about.

Originally rated on 2/6/08- I consider smithwicks to be a good beer because its very well balanced, not overpowering in anyway in regard to flavor, smell, mouthfeel, ect without being watery . This is a good beer for people who dont drink much or have limited backgound in dark beers. Worth a try.

Pre-pour notes. As I opened the bottle, the aroma from the aroma very clear. Very nice.

Aroma is nutty and roasted malt. Itís bready, ap I donít know if thatís yeast or malts. But itís very tasty.

Mouthfeel is pretty thin. Itís light, and crisp. Itís super drinkable. It has a little Guiness creaminess in there.

Overall, this is very good. Iím pleasantly surprised. I expected much less, and boy was I surprised. Certainly, this is a must try. Red ales, are not my favorite, but I could be persuaded otherwise with ales like this. Do try this. Iím glad I did.

This is probably my Favorite beer! It's easy to drink and I love the roasted flavor in it. I have been getting this for a while now, I really need to try more Red Ales. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft in Ayre, MA. Creamy white head on charcoal brown. Soft sweet malt aroma. Smooth body, raisins and sweet fruity malt. Solid. Not a ton going on. Feels a bit under attenuated.

Draft pour pint at the Wilde Rover. Pours a dark brown color with a fizzy bubble head. Seemed firing to rate this for the first time in am Irish pub, though I would prefer to be across the pond and doing it right. Iíll pretend for now. Creamy body with a nutty malt flavor. Has little flavor, but not bad. Not bad, but not really that good either.
