Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale. Its exceptional taste, distinctive colour and purity of ingredients make it unique. Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

OK beer - not sure why I’m rating this, other than I’m thinking of everything I’ve had that’s Irish. You’ve had it, you know what it tastes like. Def better than American macro beers...

Clear amber pour, thin pillow of a head, bit of residue. Caramel malt aroma and body, some biscuit and hints of hops in the end. Medium body good amount of carbonation.

Dark amber color with half a finger head. Smell is lightly malty with a tiny hop aroma. It has a very light mouthfeel and not a lot of taste jumps out. What taste there is is malty with just the faintest hint of hops. Decent enough beer for what it is. If I wanted a lightweight beer, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick this over an AAL.

This beer brought me back to when I lived in Germany in my early years, I hung out in Irish bars back then. I opened the beer and the smell made me think of fighting, and bushmills. We all have our demons and sometimes we are transformed back to them, this beer does that for me.

Very foamy white head with a dark brown body. Fruit and malts. Slightly bitter taste with a hint of caramel and wood. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Carmel malt aroma from clear amber-colored pour with a pillowy white head. Taste mostly stale biscuit - bready. A bit of hop in there somewhere, but indistinct and not aromatic or tasty. Okay mouthfeel - easy on the palate but perhaps a bit thin. Not bad, but mediocre.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass: Pours deep brown with a hint of red and a nice looking tan head. Decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and sugar. Taste is a malty caramel, sweet residual sugar, a little nutty, with a surprising but small amount of hops on the back end. Light to medium body, high carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. This is a pretty solid beer.

Bottle straight from. The aroma is fairly standard lager but does have a slight spice, a bit if a Maltiness. The taste is sweet, easy to drink, slight touch of bitter on the finish.
