iride15 (117), Sanford, Florida, USA Mar 3, 2008 Dark red ale with nice head. I enjoy it because it’s smooth to go down even though is got a lot of carbonation. good hop and malt mix.
tomhenderson (110), Carolinas area, USA Oct 9, 2008 On tap at Brixx. A great session beer, it offers an aroma of sweet caramelly malt. Flavor is rich with caramel and roast malts offset slightly with floral hops. I’d definitely enjoy a second pint or third or ... Not at all like a Guinness, even watered down. It’s much sweeter and nowhere near as dry and roasty as a stout. ericandersnavy (151), denton, Texas, USA Oct 8, 2008 bottle bought at metzlers in denton, tx. poured a rusty brown color with a rocky off-white head that lasted the life of the beer. aroma was pleasant with caramel and floral hops. flavor of watered down caramel and floral notes. palate was kinda watery for me. would drink again if around. Jsawyer (22), , Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottled. Nice roast nose. Pleasant ale, balanced between good malt presence and light hop character. Unfortunately it tastes like a watered down Guinness and I couldn’t help but think that that’s exactly what I was drinking. mzurface (1), Greenfield, Indiana, USA does not count Oct 5, 2008 Best fucking ale on the planet. Period. It has the most full and robust taste of any ale around. The aroma after a Smithwicks has just been poured is the most amazingly heavenly scent ever in the history of mankind. Also, sidenote: the Blacksmith might be the single greatest creation in the history of the world. scooter_bub (192), Lander, Wyoming, USA Sep 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear brown amber color with a large tan head that quickly fades. Taste is of roasted malt, caramel, is kind of sweet and dry in the finish. Similar aroma. Refreshing, very easy to drink and fairly tasty. Not a bad beer to have occasionally.
