Commercial Description:
Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale. Its exceptional taste, distinctive colour and purity of ingredients make it unique. Its rich, satisfying taste has earned it five gold medals in the famous Monde Selection Beer Tasting Competition. Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley. In 1998 a new enhanced draught product with improved head retention was launched along with redesigned glassware.

Pours a amber color with a decent sized head. Slightly sweet, roasted malt flavor with a touch of hops. Somewhat of a thin, watery mouthfeel. Easy drinking and a pretty good, easily obtainable beer.

They should just call this beer "Guiness Light". You can definitely tell it’s from the same brewers. It’s not bad though, roasty, malty flavors on the pallet, maybe a hint of coffee??? I don’t know, but basically it’s Guiness with a lighter kick to it.

Taste 7/8. My bottle says 4.5abv not the listed 5%. Looks: Clear brown, light lacing.Aroma: Grain/malt, yeast. Taste: Better than expected with Guinness on the label. Ingredients come through well. Round, spicy and toasted.Mild sour yeast. Mildly sticky. Fills the mouth well. Worth brewing and drinking.

Clear amber, nice tiny long lasting head, weak notes of malt, toffee, some spices and fruit, flavour is sweet and short sweet finish, nice but indifferent.

Huge head! Woah! the aroma has a malty caramel hint, which I really love in my beer. There is a reddish amber color, and the foamy head is off-white and really soapy. This has promise....the taste is best described...as clean. It is a bit sweet, not bitter in anyway....a little too much carbonation, but all in all...very nice. Good beer....

Less heavy than Guinness, but with that same bitter flavor and a long finish.
