Overall not a terrible beer, very middle of the road in terms of Irish Ales. Bland in color and aroma, mostly in flavor too. Easy to drink and easy to find when theres no other options at the local pub.

440ml/15floz can into a shaker glass; served cold. Aroma: Mild malt with some gentle, pine-y hops. Pretty tame, but nice. Appearance: Dark gold body with a persistent, bubbly white head. High visible effervescence. Taste: Moderate piney hop presence. Straightforward, but really nice! Palate: Light-medium body with a short, flowery-hop finish. Overall: Pleasantly surprised! Actually some nice flavor in this one. A nice surprise indeed.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a substantial large bead head that begins to break down fairly quickly. Aroma is malt and mown grass. Taste is sweet pale malt and grassiness with a rather thin texture. Some hop bitterness at the end. Refreshing, but not too exciting.

Smithwick’s Pale Ale 4.5% [181113]
Bottle from Tesco, Carrick-on-Shannon
Light golden amber, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of soft citrus hops, touch of lemon, soft sweet pale malts
Taste of soft citrus hops, soft lemon, pale sweet malts, simple flavours, quaffable in a hot day, more hoppy than expected
Palate - soft carb, light to medium body, little oily. Finish - soft citrus hops, light sweet pale malts, touch more bitter zest comes thorough
Overall - Easy going pale ale, best of the 3 Smithwick beers, pleasent enough but rather simple overall.

Not much aroma on opening. Darker than usual. Large head on pouring which recedes quickly enough. Nice tasting. Nice and smooth on the palate. A softer, more relaxed Pale ale. A good session beer. Probs better again on draught. A good choice if you don’t like the bitters on the end of traditional IPAs.

Consistently good palate and flavour on draught and in bottle. Refreshing hop character up front with satisfying bitter citrus finish. Very capable session beer.

Draught @ various places in Dublin. Also in bottles. Light coloured ale with fine head. Really nice citrus like taste from the hops. Really refreshing. This was the beer that made an impression on me during my recent trip in Dublin.
