3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On draught at the end of the Smithwick’s tour. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin fluffy white head that evaporates steadily. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of grassy hops and malt. Light-bodied with a mildly bitter herbal hops character and malt in the background. The finish is short with a light hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

500 ml bottle in Swords, Ireland. Pours a gold color with a thick fizzy white head. Aroma is pale pine hops and fruit. Taste is a surprise and sweet. Then the palate ends in pine bitterness. A roller coster ride of flavors.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml from Asda:
Grainy with a lot of lager hops and some lighter, grassy ones. There is some sweet malts too and various adjuncts with a sweet, almost honey like aroma following this.
Golden with a bubbly, one centimetre tall head on top that has okay retention.
Corn, some light hops and sweet lager malts with some corn and a hint of honey. This was a fairly bland and basic tasting beer & certainly not a craft one.
Very tangy with a lot of carbonation and a light body. There is a definite lager feel to the beer and it is fairly bland.
This one tastes cheap and standard and certainly isn’t worth picking up, other than malts and a slight hint of honey it had nothing to offer so give it a miss.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear, slightly watery looking amber tinted gold. Fizzy head that doesn’t last. Strong bready malt and toast in the aroma. Clean flavour, with a moderate hop bite. Fizzy carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Quite thin bodied. More toast and bread in the finish.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Creamy softness in the palate. Sinusoid hoppiness (in waves), feels like a series of afterquakes. Fairly standard hop-taste; associations to oatmeal, muscat nut and cigarettes.

On tap (various in Killarney) and in bottle at home. Bottle is better in my view - maybe not so cold as in the bars. A good attempt and a serious improvement on the "original" variety.

En rund och len ale med fruktig smak. Lätt kolsyrad med en snäll beska. Saknar kropp och stanna inte kvar i gommen så länge som önskat.

Quite good. Smooth and easy to lose oneself in. Give it a go if you see it on tap anywhere.

Bottled. Clear deep golden, rich head. Aroma of grapefruit and canteloupe. Mid dry with light-medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Some grapefruit and gooseberry. Low-medium bitterness. Hoppy and quite pleasant.
