A: The pour is a dark amber color, bordering on mahogany with a fingerís worth of slightly off-white head. S: Wow, the nose on this beer is phenomenal. Tons of vanilla, bourbon, maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel, and toffee provide a wonderful sweetness. Some miscellaneous dark fruit notes and chocolate fill in the background of the aroma. T: The flavor is similarly impressive. Lots of sweet, rich vanilla, bourbon, and oak accompanied by toffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup. The finish is all the prevents this from a perfect score as there is a bit of alcohol and heat, along with some hints of chocolate. M: The mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, rich, and full bodied. A light but nearly perfect level of carbonation. D: I was told this beer was good, but I had to see for myself. This is one of, if not the, best barrel aged barleywines Iíve come across. I might go back again soon to have some more.

Sample at the Taps brew fest. Rating# 1. Dark amber/brown with very little head. Big aroma, toffee, bourbon, just fantastic. Sweet flavor, more toffee and just a slight amount of heat, like liquid candy, outstanding. (1329)

On tap at Tustin Brewing, Wow, this was really nice: excellent complexity with flavors of oak, vanilla and a touch of sweetness, it was well balanced with no boozyness. Very drinkable, I thought it was extremely well done.

Bottle with CB for Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA, but memory says itís from Marcus. Memory! Meh! Pours very dark copper with a beige head.Aroma of caramel and sweet toffee. Near full bodied at least. Flavor is bourbon/treacle/toffee/brown sugar. Which does not do justice to the flavor. It is very strongly flavored. Not dry of course, and only moderately bitter, but it is really flavorful and tasty.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head and a maple and bourbon aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with a nice dose of bourbon. Starts sweet, but quickly bitters with a nice vanilla bourbon finish. A great sipper.
