4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this on tap at the Midland Brewing Company. One of the more interesting beers at Midland. I enjoy the smoky flavor. Not too strong, but enough to give this a distinctive and delicious flavor.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Poured hazy dark brown with an average light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate smoke and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet malt and smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex good beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft. Aroma has notes of peat, chocolate, roasted malts and smoke. Dark brown that sits black in the glass. Off white head that mostly diminished and left no lace. Flavor is medium sweet and bitter. Palate is medium bodied, watery mouth-feel and average carbonation. Overall I preferred the Pine River.
