A creamy, smooth, Irish style dry stout. Black as a revenooer's heart and roasty as Juan Valdez's breakfast. Great in black & tans.

Draft sample at KBJ2010. Poured brownish black color with an average creamy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt and coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where met.

Black, with a thick, creamy, brown head (with a little nitro help, I think). Burnt toast aroma, with a faint whiff of chocolate. Smoky and smooth, with notes of hickory and coffee. Finishes with a nice dark chocolate flavor.

Draught at Calhouns on the hill in Knoxville, Another pleasant surprise from this brewery. A rich creamy head with a coffee/chocolate flavor that was a total pleasure a very good stout. If they could make this baby with a higher abv it would be world class in my book.

Pint at one of the Calhoun’s locations. Pitch black pour with a huge tan nitro head. Malty and chocolatey aroma with some roast. Chocolate and creamy sweet malt flavor with a dry, roasty coffee finish. What a dry stout should be. Best beer I had from them.

Not much aroma. Pitch black, of course, with little tan laced head. Thin. Lots of cocoa, but very little bittering. Smooth but disappointing.

On draft at the brewpub in farragut. Pours a midnight black with great solid brown head and spiderweb lacing. Nitro diminishes the aroma a bit, but the flavor is roasty chocolatey, and lightly bitter coffee. Great creamy silky body. Coffee finish. Very good

Draft at Pigeon Forge brewpub. Opaque with a huge Guinness-style head (might have been N2, the ditzy bartender couldn’t tell me) that finally settles to a half-inch cream. Nice lacing left behind. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is similar with some roasted nut and char in the aftertaste. Served way too cold, as all the beers in this brewery are, but most are lagers anyway. Heavy body is smooth and sticky, with just enough wateriness to make it a great session beer. The only truly good beer this brewery offers, but alas it’s a ’’Brewer’s special’’ and not in the normal house lineup.

On tap at the brewpub in Pigeon Forge, TN. Pours a black body with an inch thick, very dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweeter chocolates, a light roast, and a bit of a dark fruit note. Flavor is similar. Sweeter dark chocolates, a medium-light roast to balance, and a touch of coffee. Finishes smooth and creamy with a light bittersweet chocolate and roast. Medium length aftertaste following a smooth, creamy, medium body and a soft, medium-light carbonation. Overall, a decent dry stout. Sweeter chocolates with a decent roast backing while staying easy drinking. Not bad.
