3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: Pours amber gold, think white cap of white, leaving behind tremendous lacing.
Aroma: Pine, grapefruit essence, apricot preserves.
Taste: A nice mouthful of piney American hops. Some fruitiness. Subtly sweet malt and toasted malts. Finishes with earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, average carbonation.
Overall: For not being my preferred type of IPA, this is very tasty and very fresh. Not many people outside of Portsmouth Brewing got to try batch 1 last year, so I am very glad they did this beer on a slightly larger run.

Draft @ Three Penny Taproom. Deep hazy gold in color thick frothy head. Nose is floral, pine and citrus notes. Taste starts with pine then the bready malt makes itself known. The pine comes through in the finish with hints of passion fruit. The bitterness is slightly lingering and light resin. Dry texture. Pretty decent.

I really enjoyed this.
Little more malty then most of todays IPA’s but the resin hop hit was still there at the end and it was a pretty tasty kick you in the face beer.
My father always talked about having this beer when he was younger and wishing he could have another. To think there was pretty much nothing else like this on the market when Ballantines made it is pretty cool, they where way ahead of their time on this, to bad they are no more.
