Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Bottled. A pitch black beer with an orangey-brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt, chocolate, and cittrus. The flavor is sweet and acidic from the rosted malt combined with notes of alcohol and lighter notes of soy sauce. The alcohol burns the tongue and palate.

Opaque black beer. Chocolate coloured frothy head. Soft palate. Creamy dark malt, a hint of chocolate and a subtle note of dark fruit - cherry and plum. An aniseed cherry finish with an overriding creamy malt. Surely an imperial porter?

Bottle at White Horse Parsons Green post GBBF. Lots of intense choc on aroma. It’s got a touch of ash, roasted, big choc and some good harsh intense choc. But not my favourite. Bit harsh.
