Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition weíve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Share one with your comrades!

My favorite baltic porter- smutty nose nailed this beer. Delightful jet black color, thick, heavy body. nose has lots of dried fruit and a slight tart quality behind the big toasted malt. The taste has big chocolate, raisin, and toasted malt.

Appearance is exactly what a porter should be, black with a thick tan head which will last as long as it takes you to drink this beer. Aroma is plentiful with some roasted malts, hints of chocolate, caramel and even some raisin, very slight alcohol smell but not overpowering. Taste is slightly sweet to start but very complex and extremely well balanced. Something for everyone in this; malts, slightly hoppy, chocolate, raisin, coffee but no one flavor stands out. Even ay 9% ABV this is smooth, easy to drink and the 22 oz bomber was gone within the hour.

Draft at Jerryís. Black with chocolate shake head / Rich, acidic nose of tobacco, coffee, and lemon / Full body, chewy and lightly sweet, with excellent balance and dry finish / Winey, earthy flavors of dark roast coffee, tobacco, chocolate, prunes, lemon, orange, and oak / Superb. Possibly my best porter ever?

Draft at Cap Ale House, post 10k recovery beer. Pours black with a creamy tan head, very nice. Aroma is a great blend of coffee accented malts and dark fruits. Flavor is an almost exact match, but just exquisitely balanced, luscious, and full. This is absolutely fantastic, an amazingly good beer.

22 oz bottle. Pours black with a thick, brown, long lasting head. The aroma is chocolate malt, dark fruit and brown sugar. Full body, some tartness. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, dark fruit. Fruity sweetness nicely balanced with coffee bitterness. Finish is enormous, long lasting and very balanced. Simply great!

One of my favorite styles. Pours a beautiful inky black with a medium brown, creamy head. Aroma is big and complex. I detect notes of raisin, dark fruits, coffee, caramel, and milk chocolate. Drinks very smooth for the high abv. Coffee and sweet fruits dominate the palate. This is a beautiful beer. Very delicous. This is one will be one of my new favorites. Highly recommended.

THOUGHTS: Very nice. It went down easy for something this bit. One of the better Baltic Porters Iíve had, but then again I canít think of many bad one either. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured dark brown, that was a nearly opaque black in the glass with an average, tan head that mostly diminished. The aroma was moderate to heavy roasted malt, coffee and chocolate syrupy; along with raisin, prune, cherry, soy sauce and dark chocolate cherry cordials. The initial flavor was sweet, bitter and a little acidic; while the finish was very sweet, rather bitter and acidic with an average to almost short duration. There was chocolate syrupy, dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, prune, raisin, cherry and dark chocolate cherry cordials. The full body was oily with fizzy carbonation and a light astringent and light to moderate alcoholic finish.

Pours a deep dark color with a brown head. Strong aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. Taste is rich and smooth with the hints of coffee and chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel that leads to a dry finish. Very well balanced porter. Not too much of a stretch to say that itís one of the better porters Iíve had in a while.
