Kinz (1916), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Apr 5, 2008 Draft at Cap Ale House, post 10k recovery beer. Pours black with a creamy tan head, very nice. Aroma is a great blend of coffee accented malts and dark fruits. Flavor is an almost exact match, but just exquisitely balanced, luscious, and full. This is absolutely fantastic, an amazingly good beer. imadeadguy (155), From NJ, now in Clovis, California, USA Feb 17, 2008 Wow! poured jet black with a nice tan frothy head. Notes of coffee, mocha, and roasted malt. Coats your mouth and is very drinkable. Much better then Victorys baltic imo. oteyj (344), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Mar 23, 2008 Pours motor oil black with large tan head that dissapates into a veneer. Nose of roasted barley, bitter chocolate, coffee, raisin, and hops. Upon first sip, I realized that this is one of the smoothest porters I’ve ever tasted. Oily and thick, caressing the tounge and mouth. Chewy and full bodied- this beer has so much character. Chocolate, deep roasted barley, and hops all fuse together in the perfect balance to create a true masterpiece. LooseCannon (680), Norfolk, Virginia, USA May 10, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours pitch black in color with full brown head. Aroma sweet, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste dark chocolate and roasted coffee with dark chocolate bitter finish. nearbeer (1317), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 16, 2008 650 ml, early 2008 vintage. Opaque with a quarter inch of sticky, lasting head. Nose is molasses, chocolate, raisin and coffee. Flavor is chocolate, caramel, espresso, raisins, split and dried hickory. Some hickory, oak, whiskey, vanilla and anise in the aftertaste. Medium-heavy body is balanced well between the syrupy and the dry, but a little too bubbly. Excellent beer.
