COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a decent tan head. Roasted malt notes with some caramel and vanilla in the background. Complex taste. Strong vanilla notes with brown sugar. Very smooth and not overpowering. Overall, a really solid porter.

pours black with a thin brown head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is light smoke, dark fruit, anise and coffee. Flavor is earthy. Smoke, dark fruits, light anise and coffee. Body is a little thin but not too bad. oily mouth feel. Low carbonation. Wonderful bitter finish. I have not liked much of the Smuttynose products I have tried. This one is spot on for the style.

Pours black with some tan head. Nose is roast, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits. Up front it's difficult to pinpoint, a cherry fruity note, eventually turns to coffee, chocolate, raisin, a touch of tobacco. It has a definite tough to describe lager quality, it's lighter than I would have expected. Very good.

Dark black-brown in color with a tan mocha head and only traces of lacing. Smell is of roast, dark fruits, and maybe dark chocolate. Tastes of cherries, bittersweet cocoa, coffee, roast, and tobacco char. Some carbonation and coats well on the palate. Sweetness mixed about the aroma and flavor and combine for quite the epic porter imo! No expectations but if I had some they were completely blown away!

Bottle, thanks Ben. Aroma: chocolate, coffee, plum, dark fruits and some raisin. smoked. App: pitch black with minimal brown head. Taste and palate: full body, liquoreux, medium sweetness, dry medium sweetness and a tad bitter finish. sticky on lips. Overall: pretty good. A really good interpretation of the style. Heavy but fruity enough to make it easy to enjoy. Could be more smokey though.

Awesome example of the style! Big, bold and smooth just like the style says. I like the deep flavors that come with this one and it’s amazingly quaffable for such high abv.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 1/2015. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger fairly dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, licorice, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, dark fruit, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, light licorice, light smoke/char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, light smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate dark fruit flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Baltic porter. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roasted malt, earthy hops, and dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

22 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark almost black with a very nice tan head and tons of lacing. Aroma of fruit and coffee nice and strong. Taste has the sweetness of the fruit and malts combined with coffee notes and a slight bitterness combined with a hint of smoke. Great beer absolutely delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
