I’m not so excessively aroma of this beer. What I feel is a slightly fruity and maybe even vanilla. A little fruit in the taste but bitterness takes over everything from the taste. The aftertaste is left for a while and are back in mouth. Strong beer with much bitterness, I would say about this beer. But not special. 3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 2 - 01/03/14.
Lightly hazed orange amber with moderate off white spotting.
Nose is bitter orange, dark fruit pangs, hoppy backwafts, spice, bitter grapefruit and tropicana.
Taste comprises caramelised sugars, punchy tropical fruit pangs, dark fruits, sugars, hops.
Fullish bodu, fine carbonation, sweet close with light booze.
Ok US style hopped up barley wine, hides the ABV well and not overly sweet, never going to come out top in class for style with all the hops and tropicals banging about, akin to double/triple IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Systembolaget, 11,8%. Pours amber/red with a dense white head. Aroma is malty carmel, figs, butterscotch, pine. Taste is medium bitter which increases and it gets almost a bit harsh, a sweet fruity and malty background balances the bitterness but it is a bit one dimensional to be among the better ones in this category.

Bottled, 11.8% ABV
Pours deep amber with a large and thick head. Sweet and malty aroma of marshmallows, dried fruit and brown sugar. Sweet and malty flavor with notes of dried fruit, hops and alcohol. Bitter finish. Quite ok, but just a liiiiiiitle bit too strong for its own good.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
.65 bottle, SB iirc. Reddish dark amber, slight haze. Really delicious butterscotch caramel nose with orange apricot tones as it warms up. Some herbal citrus hoppyness, overall very agreeable. Smooth full body. Lots of residual sweetness, but bitters too for balance. This is definitely off style; barley wines should be murky icky, disgusting abv bombs. This is really pleasant, balanced and flavourful. Good job.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11,8 % ABV
Ar: caramel, grass, citrus, resin, alcohol, butterscotch, grapefruit, very well hopped, almost like a DIPA with the malts ramped up to extreme levels, however, very enjoyable.
Ap: copper colour, medium beige head, lots of lacing.
T: noticable bite, big sweetness, ABV noticable, lots of hops and malts, this is a big, big beer, but it is not terribly refined, this is not a violin, it’s more like a sledgehammer.
P: fullbodied, soft carbonation, warming, sweet and bitter finish.
O: quality brew, but lacking complexity in the flavour.
