3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of yellow raisins, sweet malt, and toffee or caramel - excellent for an English barleywine. Appears a hazy amber color, with no head to speak of. Flavor is sweet and vinous in front, a bit chalky or ashy in the middle, and with an English hop bitterness in the finish. Palate is soft and velvety, with medium body, and with the slightest effervescence to cover the alcohol a bit. Overall, a very good barleywine.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 22 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is brown with a short-lived off-white head that becomes a ring. Aroma of barley malts and overripe fruit. The body is much lighter than most Barleywines I have had. The taste is somewhat malt and fruit forward with only a mild to medium bitterness. Most fresh Barleywines tend to be pungent and malty. This one already feels like it has been cellaring for a year.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a hazy copper-orange with a healthy beige head that settles slowly and leaves some ropes or lacing. Nose involves peach, brown sugar, spice, candied orange, suggestions of leather, pine resin, date bread, caramel, figs, and a little wispy alcohol. Definitely sweet, but well balanced with bitterness and a dash of tart. Full bodied but not heavy, rich and toward syrupy, bright, tingly, oily, coating, sticky, with a lengthy fruity and hoppy bitter finish, even trying to dry it all out. Hey, this is a versatile barleywine. Estery. Quite drinkable, yet lots to ruminate over. Yum.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orange with small white head. Aroma grassy hops, malt, a little booze. Medium full body, alcohol there but not overwhelming. Flavor is bitter and hoppy, citrus and herbs, some malt in the background. A good beer, I found it indistinguishable from a double IPA.

Had this on tap originally spring 2012 somewhere in NYC. Found it in bottles today at Readington Wine and Spirits in East Whitehouse Station, NJ.
A: Cloudy...deep copper color.
S: Sweet...caramel...no hoppy aromas.
T: Bitterness is very subtle...sweet...maple syrup...brown sugar...light on the hops...bitter on the backend. Very yummy!
M: Medium light body. Light effervescence. Not clear when this bottle was filled but sometime between 2007 and 2011.
O: I love British barleywines. Iím finding a number of American barleywines that I really dig too and this is up there in my top two or three. I had looked for this in bottles for over a year and found it today. Had on tap last year. Iíll have to get more when Iím back at this store. Oh, itís a happy day!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from 2003 thanks to Paul at Brianís suprise birthday tasting. Pours clear amber without any head. Aroma is hugely boozy with notes of dark fruits. Really in your face booze. Taste is caramel, fruits, raisins and slight booze. The alcohol profile is alot less prominent in the taste than the aroma. Holds up well.
