For our hopping regime we went with Cascade and Nuggets in the boiling addition. Centennials were added every 5 minutes for the last 30 minutes of the boil. We added Crystals into the whirlpool. Dry hopping was done in both the fermentor after primary fermentation and the bright tank. We used a mixture of Chinook, Nuggets, and Sterlings in the fermentors and whole leaf Centennials in the bright tank.

A cloudy golden orange colored beer. Has a nice big foamy head that is well maintained throughout drinking session. Big toffee malt aroma and a citrusy hop bouquet. Big alcohol taste I get up front with thick chewy malts. No distinct flavor. Hops of grapefruit and citrus. Smooth and full bodied. A dry ending. Alcohol warming that lingers in the aftertaste. A good sipping beer, I don’t know if I could drink more then two in one sitting. It is flavorful and balanced and warming.

Drank from the bottle. Aroma is hay, corn, malt, and hops. Taste is grapefruit, bread, and pine. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, moderate lingering bitterness. Okay, definitely not my favorite.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter and a tulip several different times and there really isn’t much difference between the two glasses. The appearance was a nice hazy golden orange to brown color with a gentle half finger-ed white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. The lacing was thin and soapy and just fell right into the beer without any sort of effort to stick to the sides of the glass. The smell seemed separated as there were times when I could smell some grapefruit like hops and then there were times when I could get sweet malts. The taste was mainly sweet with a kind indulgent sweetness overcoating my taste buds nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a somewhat decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed okay for the style and for me as it had a good harshness but also had a decent smoothness about it. Overall, uh, well it fits the style but just doesn’t seem to be a standout. I’d probably only have again if offered.

Rated from notes taken 7 Jun 2011 -- Given to me for a birthday present. This beer is an amazing IPA. One of the first IPAs I truly craved.

12 ounce bottle pours a cloudy medium orange color with a off-white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of apricot citrus and resin. Full-bodied with a lot of hop bitterness upfront. A bit harsh.

tap at Dash In - This draft beer smells of citrus and resin hop notes. It is, as expected, very bitter. It’s also crisp, full bodied thanks to a tasty malt backbone, and has a long, bitter finish. Very good.

Bottle. Pours is a hazy bright and pale golden with a nice creamy white head. Nose and taste is orange and grapefruit. Bitter and delicious.
