Hazy orange with a big pillow head. nose of pine and weed, but very fresh hop too. Surprisingly mellow, thin taste but ’heavy’ on the tongue. very sweet with a bitter finish and some burn. interesting, new but not near my fave. TwoDudes (77), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Pours an Orangy amber. Aroma of pine and citrus dominate the nose that hits you before it even leaves the bottle. Huge, fluffy white head that never fully dissipates. Mouthfeel is full and incredibly balanced. Hops never dominate, and neither does the malt. My wife doesn’t like hops, but she loved this beer. That’s how balanced it is. My first Smuttynose beer, and it didn’t dissapoint. Aquired in a trade with bmartin. Thanks!!! GodOfThunder (861), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2008 A pretty darn good Double IPA. Not too bitter, with just enough sweetness. Pours a nice amber, like most IPAs, with a sticky white head. Smells of pine and citrus and tastes the same way. The hops are strong yet have a slight mellowness with the sweet and tart notes. A good Double IPA, but not extraordinary. BigBeer45 (686), Troy, Michigan, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Bomber thanks to jjpm74. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is full of citrus hops, some caramel and alcohol. The flavor is really nice; tons of bitter citrus hops, like a suped up grapefruit, some pine, a good bit of caramel malt, a bunch of alcohol warmth too. A medium mouthfeel with a long lingering bitterness in the finish. Leaves your palate fairly dry. Very nice. If I need a IPA in a winter storm this will be it. Tmoney99 (4704), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2008 Bottle shared by Alexsdad06. Poured a hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good to excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hoppy and malt aroma with a small alcohol tone. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. This is a standout beer. gameface23 (131), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA

The appearance was great: a hazy orange with nice white head. The aroma was a bit off, though. There were definitely pine, citrus and caramel notes, but I also detected some coffee and even cheese accents as well. Maybe I got an off bottle. Taste was bitter in the finish.
