Pours a slightly hazy copper-orange hue under a dense and tight white head. Intense luscious aromas of crushed fresh pine needles, along with grapefruit and orange rind. Palate is extremely silky smooth with a fine carbonation. Flavor much like the aroma; lots of fresh pine and citrus abound, supported by a nice balance of background caramelly malt sweetness and warming alcohol. Finishes with a long, crisp hoppy bitterness. A lot to enjoy here for an IPA-lover/hop head. Gotta give this one a try! joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2003 Initial pour yielded a light amber/golden hue. Thin creamy head and lace. Lovely nose of juicey, piney, citrusy hop resins, caramel like malt, oranges, bit of peach and more. Medium bodied, soft, sweet malts to start with hints of orange and caramel. Big bittering hops provide a nice interplay of flavors. Dry bitter finish with sweetness creeping in. . Resiny aftertaste sticks. Wonderful balance and damn tasty IPA. they nailed it. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 19, 2003 Dark golden color with a small lacing of head around the sides of the glass. Robust hoppiness in the flavor but there's a lot more going on than just the hops. It is a little chewy, and even cake-like. Smooth, yet sharp and bitter finish. A very good IPA that I look forward to having again soon. definetly a hint of sweetness, but not syrupy or too heavy. Just well-rounded. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 19, 2004 Pours with a finger of creamy white head. The Aroma is of sweet malt and piney hops. The flavor is of a rounded but very upfront citrus and hop blend, with a very nice soft but balanced malt backbone. Very creamy/velvety palate. This seems like more of an IPA then an IIPA, even though its seems to be misnamed it is probably one of the best IPA's I have ever had. Right up there with bells two hearted in book. desurfer (1069), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
