Strongly fruity, citric aroma, plenty of juicy grapefruit and lemon along with a noticeably sweet, grainy malt backbone alongside some faint apple, spice and alcohol. Dark golden amber color, lightly hazy, with a creamy, lasting, uneven head. Well balanced flavor profile, a goodly amount of malty sweetness combined with plenty of hop bitterness and flavor, nicely citric and refreshing with a bit of acidity and a small amount of peppery alcohol at the finish.Creamy, smooth mouthfeel, nicely full bodied. This may actually be a touch on the old side (~1 yr.) but is still highly flavorful and lively. tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2002 Lovely dark orange/amber color with huge staying frothy head. Nose very orangey, with perhaps a hint of pine, and nice hop sharpness. Flavor is maltier than the usual IPA, really well balanced but with enough hops to let you know what you’re drinking. Great big body and a strong clean hoppy finish make this the best I’ve had from this brewery; a fine IPA.
After finishing the bomber in about 15 minutes: shit this stuff’s strong as well. Damn I might be able to sleep tonight after all. DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2004 Pours a hazy copper orange with a relatively small 1cm white head which dissipates at a decent rate. Nose is very hoppy--I can smell this stuff a mile away. Citrus orange aroma in there too. Smells yummy. Well, if you're a hophead, then this is a good brew. Hoppy throughout with a pungent bitterness to finish. A very nice IPA. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA

Some sweetness in the malt; hoppy but well-balanced with a bitter finish. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2005 22oz bomber thanks to jjpm74. pours a deep orange hue with a smooth off white head that was pretty thick. aroma is citric, apricots, pears, pinneapple, lemon meriange, passion fruit and a little alcohol detected in the aroma. The flavors show both a good malt base and big hops-piney flavors are persistent in the hop profile-i guess cascade, chinook and centennial here. A good malt base brings fourth a sweetness in the flavor to offset the piney hop barage. Big grapefruit finish with some lingering malt profile (caramel). This beer has a great mouthfeal and body works nice. This is definately a more bitter/piney IIPA than your citric types (avery majaraja for example). The finish exibits the chinook hops-dry, resiny and slightly earthy/dirty. To be honest, i hate this hop, but it works pretty well here in this beer. This beer has references to dreadnaught in some places. Very solid and something I would definately try again! goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2005 Poured a mostly clear orange color with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus and grassy hops with sweet malt. Flavor of caramel and biscut/bread with citrus hop flavor running through from middle to the bitter finish. Alcohol warms but flavor is hidden. iwantalambic (1390), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2005 22 oz bottle: Hazed gold! with a beautiful fluffy, off white head. Sweet piney grapefruit aroma with strawberries and a tad bit of pepper. Thick lace coats the glass…strong sappy bitterness n the lightly grainy, but soft palate. Finish is strongly bitter with light alcohol and pine needles; a bit one dimensional, but tasty and great with this spicy Indian food.
