CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 12, 2007 Bottle sampled on 8/9/06: Slightly hazy dark golden pour has a big, nicely-lacing frothy off-white head. Lightly spiced toasty biscuity malty aroma. Body starts with a full, sweet caramel maltiness with some dry grassy earthy notes and a good, sweet, slightly warming finish. A nice saison. kwoeltje (1313), Manchester, Missouri, USA Feb 22, 2007 (22 oz bottle) Slightly orange gold. Very small off white head with a little lace. Slightly fruity aroma. Flavor is yeast and fruit - green apples and apricot. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Feb 8, 2007 Pours a cloudy amber with a smallish head. A very orangey, slightly pithy aroma. A spicy undercurrent comes with a mellow fruitiness. This is much hoppier than expected, but it melds well with the rest of the flavors and aromas. This is really a solid beer. Rballs01 (264), Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2007 A great representation of a farmhouse ale with a nice farmhouse mule kick in the ass. Pours a light gold with high carbonation and a lot of fizz. Smelled of clean hops and fresh citrus. The flavor was surprisingly light for such a high abv%. Very classy. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Jan 13, 2007 22 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa - Pours a clear golden color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Lively carbonation with tiny bubbles. Nice lacing. Aroma is full of esters, spice and yeast. Flavor is fruity and slightly bitter. Has a dry, lingering palate. Medium body. A nice beer. Thanks Andy. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Jan 13, 2007 22oz. bomber: This one pours a somewhat darker golden color. It is absolutely crystal clear. There was a bit of an off white head that dropped off quickly. A fairly full nose. Lots of different aromas coming through. definitely some fruits, as well as some breadiness and spiciness. Has a light body to it, which belies the alcohol content and the taste. Slightly spicy with some caramel malt and spices in the background. Very easy to drink. Nice brew. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Dec 31, 2006 Bottle. One explosively carbonated mother. Delicious spicy nose with loads of fruitiness and definite Belgian Saison yeast. Clear orangish body supporting a rich foamy lacing beige head. Spicy, fruity, and dry. Deceivingly full body, coats well, merest hint of alcohol really adds a lot to the flavor. Coriander and dry orange peel. Only light earthiness. Con: aroma outpaces taste, which doesn’t stand up to volume drinking. Outstanding effort, light orvalian notes. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 6, 2006 Hazy orange/copper with a small, frothy, white head. Flavor and aroma of grainy corn, crackers, and a light mustiness. Balanced medium palate. Poor excuse for a saison.
