Commercial Description:
A homage to traditional European beers brewed for quenching the thirst of farm workers of "Saisonaires." A unique Belgian Saison yeast is used to impart a mixture of spice, fruity and earthy notes along with a lip smacking palatability.

Bomber. Sweet, sugary, slightly orange hoppy aroma. This is quite floral and aromatic. Certainly sweet and aromatic for a saison, yet this is a very pleasurable aroma. Transparent golden-copper color with a small off-whitish head and fair lacing. Sweet, sugary start with some pineapple notes present. A little musty in the middle, with some sticky toffee notes later on with some more floral and grassy hops. I don’t think this is a very authentic saison, but it is an enjoyable and flavorful beer, nonetheless.

WTF????? this beer is undeserving of its rating. Sure, Smuttynose makes some excellent beers.... but this is not one of them. you get no points for reputation. this beer is weak and uninspiring. "Farrmhouse" means peculiarly everyday, I think

Pours clear pale amber with a medium sized, white head. The aroma is floral and peppery with some bready malts. The flavor is slightly sweet, herbal and spicey. The mouthfeel is light with lively carbonation.

Smells cidery. Sweet and yet hoppy flavor, characteristic of a saison. No head. Orange color, cloudy with small bubbles.

Re-rate based upon 2007 version: 22 oz bottle, pours a hazy light orange in color with a medium to large off white head. Aroma: Alot of dupont yeast: must, citrus esters and hops, peppery spice, light notes of honey. Taste: Citrusy fruit and musty, lightly funky dupont yeast mix nicely with a light honey sweetness and peppery spice. Medium bodied, finishes with spice and light citrus. A really good, american made saison.

2006 Bomber. Poured an orange color with a frothy white head that lasted and produced thick lacing. The aroma was of fruits, spices and a slight citrus background. The flavor found apples and other fruits mixed with spices. Medium body, sweet throughout, and even carbonation. It reminded me more of a dubbel or even a triple more than a saison but very nice none the less.

(22 oz. bottle (2006) from Downeast Beverage Co.) This pours a hazy orange with a sort of fizzy small off-white head that recedes to a film. Aroma of wheat malt, I didn’t pick out anything else. Spotty light lacing. Mouthfeel refreshing, kind of fizzy. A little sticky feeling too. This seemed pretty well-carbonated (lots of burps). Flavor mostly of wheat malt, but also peaches and white grapes particularly as it warms a little. Kind of has a wine feel to the flavor. Some sourishness as well. The light peach taste is in the finish and lingers in the aftertaste. Good but didn’t blow me away or anything.

Tap at WAH. Smallish frothy head, diminishing slowly. Amber/gold with some cloudiness. Aroma bready wtih banana, spice and citrus. Spicy, sweet and lemony flavor with some slight yeast and lemon on the finish. Pretty good.
