caresville (106), Vernon, New Jersey, USA Aug 19, 2009 i was kinda excited for this but it didnt live up to what i thought it was gonna be. it was good but not great... when i poured it, there was barely any carbonation and no head. smelled of citrusy fruits with a nice hoppy aroma but the taste wasnt exactly exciting and like the review under me it was very boozy and alcoholy tasting and very syrupy. i would drink again maybe just to make sure it was nothing special but i wouldnt run out of my way for it. SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 15, 2009 hazy gold with a huge soapy off-white head. aroma is spicy with peach, lemon, sweet corny malts, and grass clippings. palate is lively with carbonation. flavors bring out grass, alcohol, light colored fruits, hay. sweet and boozy. too syrupy. not really refreshing like i imagine a great saison should be. a little around the edges. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Aug 11, 2009 Cask@GBBF2009. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity and flowery notes along with some mildly earthy notes. Mild barnyard as well. Flavour is quite much the same, but lacks some spicyness to be a really good Saison. TBone (6678), Pori, Finland Aug 10, 2009 Cask@GBBF 2009.
Amber color, white head. Slightly tart mango fruity aroma with hints of orange and strawberry. Sweetish, lots of kandisugar, light tartness, mango and apricot. Short fruity-sugary finish. A bit too sweet for being enjoyable.
durhambeer (1187), Durham, USA Aug 9, 2009 Bottle from Sam’s. Pours hazy gold. Nose of yeast, mild orange/citrus, and moderate spice. Clove and banana as well. Surprising alcohol presence on nose. Fruity and sweet. A bit of hops. Dry finish, but overall still too sweet. Pretty typical American take on the style. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 7, 2009 Cask, GBBF 09. Hazy gold with a small head. Aromas are caramel and wheat with citrus notes. Flavours are sweet caramel and cream with soft spices. Mellow lemon with pineapple and sweet addictive hops. Warming alcohol on the finish. Very pleasant. RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England Aug 6, 2009 Cask@GBBF, 2009. Bright/cloudy golden beer. The aroma is very fruity and sweet, and the flavour is vinous, fruity, gently hopped and dry. Overall a very nice drinkable fruity and gently hopped beer. hughie (3018), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Aug 6, 2009 Cask gravity at GBBF ’09. This kicked off the second day. Slightly hazy copper colour. Sour fruity aroma with a hint of the floor polish they used when I was at school.
And a bit of bacon. Taste is sweet and sugary, perhaps too much so. A little dryness. Complex and interesting.
