3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bang for the buck, this a hell of a deal($6 for a bomber). Color is brownish yellow, hazy and it pours with the right size head for the style. Aroma of bread yeast with a slight tartness(the way Iíd describe most saison/farmhouse ales). Flavor is banana and slight pepper. It is upfront sweet, with a dry finish. Very good effort for Smuttynose.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass and a tulip. There were any significant differences between the two glasses.
The appearance was a gentle light to hazy pale orange color with some decent golden yellow tinges sliding in and around the edges of the beer. The head had a one finger white foamy presence that dissipated within less than a minute. The lacing was fairly thin and it slid for the most part right on into the beer.
The smell seemed slightly stale, however, there was some light flavorings of lemon to yeast. It seemed weaker than other saisons Iíve had.
The taste was semi-sweet but had a dampened earthy/herbalness running through the flavoring.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with somewhat of a sessionable aspect about it.
Overall, this was actually not one of my more favorite saisons on the market. I donít miss this one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy golden color. Small white head. Not much in the way of lacing. Nose is citrusy with malt and yeast notes. Taste is a peppery blast up front followed by the malt and yeast. Some citrus lingers.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Very good overall -- nice balance with a little sweetness, but lots of yeast, a little spice & fruit. Medium palate, soft finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bomber vintage of 2013 into le Duvel - nose is crazy hay, floral and yeastie. Smooth and a tad flat. Just not doing it. Iíve been impressed with the last few of the Big Beer series bombers but this one is womp womp. Canít detect the high ABV. On the sweetish side.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin wispy film. The nose is lightly fruity with some light earthy wheat and pale malt. Doesnít smell all that dry or rustic. The flavor is lightly spicy with more emphasis from the spice than from the yeast. Just a little too heavy and sweet for my tastes. This doesnít really conform too well to my ideal profile of a Saison. Rather heavy and clingy body with hard fizzy carbonation. Too sweet, too heavy, and not my thing.

Pours a murky golden color with a nice aroma. Really good saison and you can really taste the belgian yeast.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
600 ml bottle. Pours a very cloudy pale golden with an orangeish tint and a thick, resilient white head. Aroma is very spicy, as well as citrusy and earthy. Flavor is very spicy, peach, nectarine and pear. Finish is earthy and lemoney. Lingering earthy, biscuit and banana flavors. Light body, creamy mouthfeel, average to strong carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Citrus, banana, and clove in the aroma. Flavor is fruity and spicy, with a little citrus bitterness and peppery spice in the finish. Certainly good, but not as good as some of the other big beers from Smuttynose.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, shared at the Boxing Day tasting at TimEís place in Calgary. Hazy golden body with a thick white head. Esters of soft banana, spices, sweet candyish malt. Belgian blonde yes, Saison no. Disappointing.
