Its body has a bright cherry red color with good clarity. The just off white head is small and soapy. The lager bubbles quickly settle out leaving just a thin layer of foam that just barely covers the beer. Lacing is minimal and very slick. The aroma is kind of light and simple. All I really get are notes of tart fruit. Its light to medium body has a sweet/tart syrupy cherry thing going on with light amber maltiness backing it up. A little hop bitterness comes in just at the end to finish things off with a blend of sticky sweet/tart fruit and musty/leafy bitterness. The texture is slick and sticky with not enough carbonation to really cleanse the palate.

I always try to rate beer according to style (not my preference) but this one does not fit a style imho. Pours copperish brown with almost no head. Kind of fruity floral aroma. very sweet, grapey. not my cup of tea (or beer)

Sampled from a bottle. Pours a reddish amber color with a medium off white head. The aroma has some sweet malts and mild cherry fruit notes. The flavor is mild cherry, sometimes with mild tartness. There is some sweet malt with light bready notes. This is just ok.

Fairly opaque chestnut with a thin beige topper that fades away quickly. Aroma as advertised is cherry and malt, a tad too sweet – almost like cherry pie filling. Taste is a mix of tart and sour, with the tart winning out. The cherry is subtle with some corn-like grains and not much else. Approaching the cusp of mediocrity, but not quite getting there.

Had at Pines Tavern in Gibsonia, PA. Poured a slighly hazy amber color with pinkish reddish head that lasts. Aroma is tart cherry. Flavor bit light on the palate, watery base, tart sour cherry then gives way to bit bitter spiced finish. Overall, not my thing at all.

6/11/2010 Pours a solid pale ale color with a pink tinge to it and a tightly bubbled head that recedes gradually. Smells of sweet bready toasted malt with a tart non-descript fruit aroma. Taste is sweet malt bready with a hint of caramel. Tart almost sour fruit washes across the palette and never leaves. Dry bitter finish with a lingering sour cherry almost lemony taste. Crisp carbonation, light to medium body and tart fruity mouthfeel. Honestly this is one of my favorite smutty seasonals. Its light and tart and oh so flavorful although maybe a bit one dimensional. I’d love to see a version of this barrel aged or spiked with brett personally.

Smells fairly terrible, with an odd, decaying-vegetation sweetness that does nothing to help the tart cherry odors on display. Looks thin and fizzy, but the color is interesting and non-cherry red. Surprise, though, that the taste is kinda enjoyable. The malts aren’t overly sweet, meaning the sour cherry never gains any unwanted sugar-coating. Not great, but bearable amongst cherry brews. Poured into a pint glass. Best before Sept 09. 3.5 A: Opaque mahogany color. One finger of creamy head with below average retention and moderate lacing. 3.5 S: Not really any cherry in the nose. Smells a lot like a Munich Helles. 3.5 T: Tastes like a half-assed lambic. Not bad though, but very different than I thought. Sourness comes through, but isn’t very strong. Cherry finally shows up to the party. Good, but I’d rather see this beer go to the limit and be much more sour. 3.5 M: Medium body. Very creamy, but in desperate need of more carbonation. 3.5 D: One’s enough, but I’m not pissed I drank it. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-25-2009 04:11:31

Red-colored with a head that lasts. Very light and fruity. You can definitely taste the cherries. I didn’t like the aftertaste, though.

subtle cherry malt aroma. Amber body with Medium, very fluffy, lasting head, nice carbonation. Flavor begins with sour cherry followed by malts. Sour lingers, bland aftertaste.
