COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Gnome was brewed in homage to the recent arrivals of hoppy Belgian beers that we’re starting to see here in the US. I was really shooting for that beautifully soft hopping that’s found in the Houblon Chouffe, however, the Gnome has developed its own unique characteristics and flavor profile. The base beer is a Belgian triple brewed with White Labs Chimay-style yeast. I really liked the fruit character from this yeast, but man, that stuff still hasn’t dropped bright. The hopping was done with Vanguard, Sterling and East Kent Goldings. I think this beer has a lot of potential, though I’d like another shot at brewing the style. There is a very limited amount of this beer, so if you happen to see it on tap, go ahead and share a pint with your gnomies!

Poured into a snifter. Light golden color, still not quite transparent. A nice finger and half of head that held nicely. A muted aroma of yeast, bread, banana, and other ripe fruit. It tastes fruity, mildly bitter in the middle and a sweet ending. Fairly standard for the style. The texture is sublime. Soft, so soft. Like drinking velvet. Low carbonation and medium body. The taste was the runner up here. It felt amazing and looked and smelled good. The taste just was not up to the same standard. Well worth trying for the texture alone.

This was at the ESBLS tasting in Dave’s house in Wood River. Bottle conditioned. Pours an orange-gold with a white head. Nose is full of fruit aromss. Full body. Smooth rich mouthfeel. Favor is full of fruit and hops show as well. Finish is very dry. A really delicious beer.

On tap at the bocktown. Sweet yeasty aroma. Clear with a tint of orange. Barely any co2. Is better than most american whannah bee trippels but still has a little of that rude american trippell on thhe finish. Wants to get there but never does. Yes a tad of uncivility about it. Each swig starts off deceptively mild then builds to a kick in the back of the throat. One nice thing about this is that it hides its alky content well.

Fall ’12 notes: Wheat, spicy fruity yeasts and resiny hops, weighty body. Tasty, booze shows in finish and flavors are a bit heavihanded.

bomber from consumers beverages niagara falls, NY. hazy golden. semi sweet aroma, more hops then typically for the style. flavour starts nicely, firm base malt, nice layer of hop flavour, typical belgian yeast derived flavour. as it warms it starts to fall apart and the components start to clash. the sweetness of the malt become to much for me near the end. not terrible but not the type of big belgian blonde i enjoy.

Bottle from Longhsot. Hazy amber with an off-white crown. Aroma of yeast, bready malt, mild fruit and mild hops. Taste is a bit odd with plenty of Belgian yeast, fruit and malt. Okay.

Ummm label makes this bottle slighty less appealing. Big bottle. Golden color. Small head. Aroma is fruit esters, old orange peel, clove, barnyard, yeasty. Medium light sweetness. Light bitter. Ave carbonation. Some caramel in taste. Not bad. Not great either. Purfumey

22 oz. brown bomber bottle. 2012 notched on side of label. Poured out a cloudy orange - yellow color, with a thin white head. Aromas are of phenols right off the bat. Smells like a box of Band-Aids that was made in 1972. The hop aroma & flavor do not favor this style of beer. Next time, pick the correct hops for the style at least. Phew! Cat piss aromas dominate this beer from the start. Flavors are of burnt Band-Aids, cloves, phenols galore. Mouthfeel is hot & burning. Burns my throat as well. Needs work gang.

Poured from a 2012 vintage 22 oz. bottle into a Smuttynose Big Beer Series branded snifter. Pours a hazy gold with deep amber accents. Two and a half finger fluffy bright white head Belgian yeast, spices, some mild funk, and herbal and grassy hops on the nose. Fruit notes, grassy, herbal hops, phenol alcohol, bready yeasty esters, white pepper and spice. Finishes fairly dry with yeasty, mild alcohol and spice. Fairly creamy mouthfeel with lively carbonation, light bodied. A very well done beer that will please anyone who appreciates Belgian-style beers.

Piney, sorta nasty smell. Medium bodied, hazed yellow. Chemical burn taste. The strange bottle art is the only thing I liked about this one.

22oz bottle. Unfiltered orange-tan, foamy white head. Really nails the dry Belgianish hop character, and amps it up US style. Really well balanced and drinkable for the ABV. Golden malt, straw, pleasant almost white wine yeast esters. Dry and clean, almost a spruce touch. Massive golden malt and alcohol aftertaste, champagne touches. A rugged, hardcore hoppy Belgian Tripel with lots of finesse, The real deal.
